    Need a bike light

The Fenix BT20 gets my vote. I have been using one for several years of off road night riding, and have yet to be disappointed by it. Things progress though, and if it ever does fail, I might well give the Magicshine MJ-908 8000 a try.

And of course Xmas wouldn't be Xmas without a very muddy Boxing Day night ride.

Heading off for a very early Xmas Day morning ride. :)

    eMTB off road photo thread.

Not a bad way to spend a bit of Xmas Eve, out on the South Downs. Not an overly long ride at 23.5 miles with an elevation gain of just 2,292ft, but it did feel very tough today as there was a very strong head wind, which made for punishing riding and killed the 500wh battery after just 21.6...

Let's see your best pic of your electric bicycle

It is very rare that I actually have two clean bikes at the same time.

    Removing crank arms

That looks much better. :) Ref the dielectric grease, I am afraid that I can't recommend a brand, as I get given mine by a cousin that works in a bearing/engineering shop, and there is no makers name on the container. Sorry about that.

    eMTB off road photo thread.

Frustratingly a heavy fall a month or so ago at an organised mtb event has finally caught up with me, and I haven't been able to ride for a few weeks now. With that in mind, I thought that I had best put my time to good use and pull down both bikes completely and service them. Considering the...

    Best dual-suspension trail bike...

Ravi is correct and I very much doubt that many take their bikes off the highway, let alone exploring a bikes potential and use of suspension. For anyone that owns an FS bike, the best one is the one that they are sitting on. I'd suggest that one of the major deciding factors, is dealer...

Has anyone added a front derailleur to a Bosch?

The ratio is 2.5 You can buy a dual front sprocket kit, which has to be changed across manually. By memory the ratio is 15t and 18t. 15t for off road use and 18t for on road use.

    Removing crank arms

Funny that you mention the road work. Their rides are dreadful for it. I do one if their rides a year, just to catch with old friends, then that is it. Wiggle do a couple of good ones around here, and the Purbeck ride is amazing, but it is just too far away for me to do it again. And yep, the...

    Removing crank arms

Yep that is the upgrade that you require. :) Other than making something, or being an animal with a punch and hammer, there isn't sadly any other real option available. Note that it is a left handed thread, so undoing is clockwise. :) As for the knee, it happened about 7 miles into a 32 mile...

    Removing crank arms

I tend to use a couple of German based companies. Bike discount.de http://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/bosch-spider-tool-to-release-the-lock-ring-for-classic-plus-452280 and (Link Removed - No Longer Exists) In the UK it seems as though most people use either https://www.adrenalinatv.co.uk/...

    Removing crank arms

Not sure about that one. Alex if you are in Europe, I can suggest a couple of places for you to buy the parts from. There are a couple of different versions of the locking ring removal tool. Bosch actually gave me mine, which is the design as shown. Picture three is of the required...

    Removing crank arms

You simply need an ISIS crank extractor. This is my version, but there are many others. You are also going to require a Bosch Spider tool to remove the guard behind the pedal crank. I would also bin the OE locking ring/sprocket guard, because as you are already finding out, all that it...

Would there be interest in a forum topic dedicated to guest/user reviews?

I think that it sounds a great idea. If it were run in forum fashion as with this fairly recent one that I carried out, then interested parties have the chance to ask questions that might be relevant to the product. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/2016-woosh-karoo-hub-drive.23864/

    Bosch ebike system reliability

@Teresa After telling you to be very careful removing the cover, I have broken mine trying to demonstrate it for you. Hopefully glue will repair it, if not it means buying a whole new switch! :( One very poorly designed cover. It could be that the two pin contacts marked here in yellow...

Why Electric Bikes Shouldn't Be Allowed on Mountain Biking Trails?

I've ridden from Lauterbrunnen to Kleine Scheidegg many times, and the same from Grindlewald to Kleine Scheidegg. I am also in the midst of planning a world record setting ride through the Jungfraujoch railway tunnel in 2018. :) Details of that ride are still to be finalised, but it is hoped...
