    My new ebike arrived today

Basic assembly is quick, although I relished the process and I'm a bit fussier than average. Unboxing and setting-up the bike, involved removing packing straps and protective tape, installing pedals, front wheel, front fender, handlebar bell, batteries in the taillight, aligning the headlight...

Shred battery lost in UPS shipment. Any tips on how to handle a replacement?

A very similar event happened when I sent a battery to EMP, back in January '17. They said they had finished the repair, and had generated a return label. The battery was supposedly picked up from their rebuild lab by FedEX, and never made it into the FedEx tracking system. The battery just...

Swapping to an IGH on the CCS?

Well, I rode my EG Zurich 350IX ebike for 8400+ miles. It had a 7 speed Nexus Hub and a 350 watt front hub motor. I had decided to upgrade the 7-speed Nexus IGH to an 8-speed Nexus, when in the process of tear down I discovered the Zurich Frame had cracks where the down-tube, seat-tube, and...

Survey for those with higher mileage (2000+) ebikes

My 8400+ mileage EG Zurich 350IX is broken down, and I'm not having it repaired October this year was the best October for work commutes and total miles for an October since 2014. However, November started out with some consternation! The goal of achieving 100 work commutes for 2018 is out of...

    Buying Ebikes On-the-Cheap

As someone who tends to buy bikes "direct", and handle most bike repair issues at home, my purchase experiences with entry level quality has been better than good. Additionally, newer up and coming quality innovative brands, as well as most national retailers, seem to go out of their way to...

    Guessing the frame is used-up

A project on the front porch this weekend may get it done. I'll document the conversion attempt. My 2005 Specialized Hybrid frame will need a thorough inspection with extra attention at the bottom bracket and down tube area. The Specialized Globe which is the 13 year-old frame has 11,459.73...

    Guessing the frame is used-up

After 4.years, 504 rides, with 488 hours and nearly 8400 miles (8394) on my EG Zurich, I discovered some cracks in the down tube by the bottom bracket. I'm guessing the frame is kaput. I was in progress replacing/upgrading the rear wheel from a 7 speed Nexus hub to an 8 speed and replacing the...

Actually, ebikes will get you much LESS exercise

some "Observational Perspective": It is possible to expend equal effort per minute whether ebiking or non-ebiking. However the increase in speed using an ebike allows one to reach a destination in less time which translates to less effort. Also, the added speed can create an uncomfortable...

Less Than Ideal Temperatures for Optimal Battery Performance

No, I was mainly curious what other ebike riders have noticed when using their ebike in an assortment of temperatures. But that idea is interesting.
