Long Commute - 70 miles round trip for eNoob

It has a 1 KWh battery which would be more than enough for the 35 mile ride and then charge it at the work place before going back home. There's a video of the older version (less powerful hyperfat) which could easily attain more than 25 mph average speed. youtube.com/watch?v=BxZLw9OjB98

Long Commute - 70 miles round trip for eNoob

You'll need a hyperfat HF1100 to achieve that. Not necessarily going at 40 mph top speed but just to quickly accelerate to 28 mph or higher, and get an average speed of 25-28 mph. youtube.com/watch?v=AqJ8UOuK7aI

E-bike DIY kit explodes and burns down home

The bms is supposed to prevent that from happening and the charger itself is supposed to have a built in sensor so it stops charging when your battery is full. With those 2 fail safe measures not present in fake products, you have a risk of having a fire.

    Lead-Acid Battery Question

Hi, sorry for the harsh words on my previous post. I have experience with lead acid powered old ebike. The casing that held the 2 batteries had no ventilation and there was minimal heat build up on charging and when using the ebike. I guess you don't have to worry about heat build up on he...

    Hilly 10mile commute - suggestions?

Congratulations, you'll gonna enjoy it and you will spend more time riding than before. As long as you spend most of your time below 24 mph and less frequent use of highest assist, the life span of your drive train will be reasonable.

E-bike DIY kit explodes and burns down home

There were several house burns from charging poorly made batteries for ebikes, scooters, remote controlled toys, lap top computers, hover boards, etc... Purchasing batteries from unknown sources overseas is a very risky proposition since there is no accountability if something goes bad (such as...

First Trip To The Grocery Store

Just wishful thinking. I hope manufacturers would build a compact cargo ebike with minimal footprint and has full suspension and with maximum carrying capacity. This would be great for grocery or for food delivery purpose. I used the CIVI BIKES Rebel 1.0 compact ebike here as my template. New...

Hub drive vs mid drive, round 2.

I know, I know, people would quickly point out that mid drives has the advantage on steep inclines. And that is true, mid drives can take advantage of the gearing and can comfortably tackle more than 15% inclines. You would often see those steep inclines on off road single tracks, riding in the...

    The new Stromer ST5

Ten thousand is a lot of money for an ebike that conks out on the first ride. You might as well get 2 ebikes just in case one breaks down. And while waiting for warranty work, you can still ride your second ebike. You can get one mid drive with 1000 WH battery...

    Yamaha PW Drag

Is the drag when pedaling forward on the stand, very significant compared to a non-electric bike? If it is, then there is failure of the free wheel clutch to disengage at the motor side. This is a warranty issue.

    Lead-Acid Battery Question

Both produces heat. Would you classify them as exothermic? There is such a thing called "efficiency" and the the efficiency lose is wasted as heat. There is efficiency loses in both charging and discharging a lead acid battery. There are lots of sources you can read about. I'll give one...

    Hilly 10mile commute - suggestions?

What don't you like about the beach cruiser setup? You can always change the bike fit to suit your preference such as using a different handle bar, different size stem, or adding a stem riser. You can use your old but comfortable non electric bike (if you have one) as your reference. Measure...

    How steep is your hill?

Twelve degrees is not much even for a geared hub drive. Expect your speed to go down as the hill becomes steeper but you should be able soldier along. What is your price goal? Are you contented with 20 mph limit or do you want it to go faster than 20 mph?

    Hilly 10mile commute - suggestions?

You mentioned Izip Zuma, that you like how it gets up and go. Why don't you purchase the Izip Zuma? It's battery is more than enough for the 10 mile commute. You just have to bring a charger at work to top up the battery before coming back home.
