Cold and wet weather cycling wear

Okay rainy day riders, I experienced rain gear failure for the first time. It was pouring rain, basically, and I decided to do my 12 mile commute anyway. Normally my rainy day cycling is on-and-off rain, and is "Seattle style" rain which is mostly of the veggie mister variety. But yesterday's...

    Road Rage

Hi all, Well, I experienced the nastiness of a motorists' road rage yesterday. I was ebiking to work in pouring rain, in my bright colored raingear, with my bright lights flashing. I was at a 4-way stop, and stopped, and was waiting my turn for motorists in cars to take their turns before it...

The Extraordinary Life of Shane (TBI traumatic brain injury and ebiking)

Hi all, There's a documentary being released in 2020 about a man who was disabled by a traumatic brain injury at age 5. He is 37 years old in the documentary, and gets around by ebike! From the trailer, it looks like it might be a Pedego City Commuter. Here's a link to the trailer: ebikemom

Does the ADA supersede local restrictions on Ebikes?

This is a good question. Ebikes are assistive technology for everyone. Even those of us without disabilities can access places and do cycling we could never manage without ebikes. I think that ebikes and etrikes should absolutely be considered power-driven mobility devices for people with...

    EBR Etiquette (Please Be Kind)

Yes, you can give referrals. If they are to a business that you are connected with financially, you should post them in the "dealer" section. If you are a happy customer, you can say so! I'm a happy customer and some folks here thought I talked about my bike too much, so do keep in mind that...

Cold and wet weather cycling wear

@Nomad, The REI pants work just fine for me. I ride 30-50 minutes in the rain sometimes, and they keep me dry. :) I have another Helly Hansen (sp?) pair, and they also work fine. They have a stretchier fabric. The price was right, too!

My Thoughts on Mid Drive..Hub Drive and Throttle

NOTE: Everything written below is in jest! 😄You can support bike techs with all you pay in maintenance if you are a high-mileage, high-speed rider of a mid-drive bike! My local bike tech definitely is feeling that love! Whenever I am there and he has a mid-drive on the rack he tells me that the...

    Why an E-Bike and Not a G-Bike??

I'd like a W-bike that runs on water! <3 There's somebody out there working on a water-powered battery! More power to them!!!

What new tires should I get for my Pedego Interceptor?

Awesome, @6zfshdb ! I looked at the Marathon plus, too. I don't remember now why I chose one over the other. ... I might have written about it at the time!!!

My new bike came in but it has a minor chip in the paint. How much credit should I be offered to consider taking?

My son asked me to point out that the crummier your bike looks, the less likely it is to get stolen!!! (From that perspective, that chip in the paint is an anti-theft feature!!!) 🤣

What new tires should I get for my Pedego Interceptor?

I ended up getting the Schwalbe Super Moto-X. Awesome tire. I'm very happy with them! :) I ordered them online--couldn't get them via my bike repair guy OR via Pedego because for some reason the 26" size wasn't in the wholesale bike parts directories.

Have you noticed that the vast majority of ebikes are "recreation-focused?"

I'm happy with my "recreational" ebike that I use for commuting, errands, and recreation. I don't want it to go any faster than it does--I like being in the speed range of a bicycle, although of course I ride faster than I would if I were completely person-powered. :) I have about 4,000 miiles...

    Welcome to Disability and Ebiking

Welcome, littlekim! I love the disabilities section, too, as ebiking is all about assistive technology! :) I hope your friend finds a bike suitable for her. I do know hip replacement folks who use ebikes. She should talk to her physical therapist about what will work best for her. The initial...

Looking for first ebike (tons of range, throttle, thick tire, no more than 1500 CAD)

Rider weight also impacts range. And, batteries degrade over time. If your need for 30 miles is a 30 mile round-trip commute, you can do my fave strategy: an extra charger at work. I don't normally need it (my 26 mile RT is no problem for my bike), but if commute after having done a recreational...

Hello from BC - Riding 10,000km a year on Bosch e-bike - Looking for a more durable system (if any?)

I think you've answered your own question: A hub drive is great for lower maintenance, as compared to mid-drives. My neighborhood bike tech has told me that his customers have spent SO much money on maintenance on their middrives with him, doing the kinds of things you've described. (I have a...

    Winter e-biking advices

I avoid riding when the roads are frozen as well as after dark (trying to survive to keep raising my kids), which limits me some. For clothing, Pacific NW riding, here is my (female) perspective on what has been working well for me. Temperatures are mid 30's through lower 50's: LIGHTS: --Built...

Send us pics of your ebike... loaded with groceries!

You're welcome, Court! It's great to see how this thread has taken off! :) I did a car replacement trip tonight, in the dark, in the rain, in the chill, to ride to my daughter's high school band concert! I love to ride for fun, but my very favorite trips are those that take me to and from...

    Bike Seat

I really like my two-piece noseless seat. There are lots of different noseless seats out there. Do a search if you're interested, both here on the forum and a general internet search. Mine is a two-piece seat. The two sides move independently, and have a control so I can move the two sides over...

Send us pics of your ebike... loaded with groceries!

I'm loving the shopping photos! :) Had a grocery run yesterday... it's always so much more fun than going in the car, and sometimes if I just need a few things my bike becomes my shopping cart!!

    Back to Acoustic?

How much range do you need? Something with less range would be lighter, for sure, and folks who like mid-drives rave about the "natural" feel. :) Let us know what you think when you start shopping. I'm sure your dog will be happy whatever your ride is! ;)
