Why buy a Class 2 ebike....

Well, yes, there's that! I do sometimes get to strike up conversations with fellow ebikers at destination sorts of areas (lakeside parks where folks are eating their sack lunches, etc.) ... it's fun to hear what ebiking means to different people.

    Hello from Oakland, CA

Welcome to the forum! You might find local ebiking groups on FB. I hope you can make some friendly connections for cycling here, too!

Why buy a Class 2 ebike....

My avatar is a mosaic tile I made at a family camp for kids with disabilities!!! Methinks they might want to go on bike trails? Or go slowly enough to smell the roses? Or be able to pedal when they are able? :) If you see them often, maybe you can strike up a conversation someday and learn...

First impressions of first ride today

I think it’s got to be this way — if there isn’t some kind of a lag then the bike could surge forward when people don’t have time for their reaction time to kick in, and be startled. For more immediate assist, a throttle is a great feature.

    Like a Boss.

Have a great time! I bet you’ll get a lot of use out of both of your bikes!

How do you request that a thread be closed?

This is a very good strategy because it sends that post straight to the admin’s “report” section along with your message expressing concern. There is a little “report” check-box after every post.

Disadvantage of integrated mid drives that I don't see mentioned

I don’t want to change anybody’s mind. I don’t think my bike tech does either. People should choose what works best for their style and needs for sure.

2017 latch vs 2019 latch??? what changes were made?

Actually, it's kind of fun to pick the brains of the Pedego tech support guys. :) I think they'd find it interesting to chat with you about this instead of dealing with a customer who is mad about the recall!!

    Pedego Factory Recall

Woot woot!!! :) Looking forward to hearing the solution. The quickest way to resolve a problem is to call tech support, for sure. :)

Disadvantage of integrated mid drives that I don't see mentioned

For this reason, my local bike tech doesn't recommend mid-drives, though he said they are quite lucrative for him in terms of repairs, and his customers have a lot of down-time while he waits for parts. He recommends hub-drives to anyone who asks him, unless they have a specific functional...

2017 latch vs 2019 latch??? what changes were made?

I don't know the difference. We also have a 2019 Latch. I bet if you telephone tech support one of their phone techs would be glad to explain. Then you can let us know! :)

    Pedego Factory Recall

Pedego tech support is super helpful over the phone. I'd call them and share your woes, as 6zfshdb suggests. :)

Bike continues to accelerate after i stop peddling.

I suggest contacting tech support at the manufacturer, and just give the brake handles a little touch and the acceleration should immediately stop. My bike had unintended acceleration several times (prior to a product recall, so now it is fixed). It wasn't severe, and I was always able to give...

Laptop in pannier on daily usage - Possible damages due to micro vibrations

I commuted with my MacBook Pro in a laptop bag, strapped to my rear rack or in a side rear basket, for two years with no problems with the computer. Before starting this, I asked my IT department person what she thought, and she said with modern laptops there should be no problem. I don't know...

Where do you keep your battery when it’s not on your ebike?

The first winter we had our ebikes, I brought them in, and we took a battery when we wanted to ride a bike. At that time, I kept them lined up on a raised fireplace hearth (the fireplace was not being used) that is close to the garage where the bikes are stored. That Spring, we set up charging...

Why buy a Class 2 ebike....

I live in a very hilly area and love the throttle for starting when faced uphill. It is awesome for my not-so-hot knees!

Why buy a Class 2 ebike....

This is a great thing about a class 2 hub drive ebike--you can still use the throttle to proceed. I've used this feature with my son, when his chain fell off on a bike path that was too narrow for us to fix the problem. The throttle was great because it kept him from getting panicky (he has a...

Why buy a Class 2 ebike....

They could have health challenges or physical disabilities. I learned from my local bike dealer that the main reason Pedego lobbied for the "Class 2" designation (instead of not allowing throttles, which seemed to be the first inclination in those writing ebike legislation) was because there are...

    Possible Group Buy

Hi Bruce!! Yeah, it's been a while, but I'm still ebiking away, and I do poke my nose in here from time to time! :) BTW, what's "the Rona?"..... OH--the corona virus? We are being very good and staying pretty isolated, which has it's challenges with two teenagers, but they understand. Lots of...

    How fast are people riding?

Gravel is wicked. I've done lots of training work with my kids on *not banking* on gravel, leaves, and wet surfaces.
