Help: e-bike for NYC commute? (20 mi round trip)

I’m glad you didn’t go with the bike with a tiny battery. Battery life reduces over time also. I think the bike you got is going to be a better long-term purchase.

Using Panniers on a Pedego Rear Rack

This is a great hack. I saw it posted by a Pedego dealer. Do you think the panniers ride too low using this method? How do you like it? I agree that Pedego needs to up their game in the Pannier department. One thing on my "to do" list is to put new zippers on my husband's Pedego panniers. He...

Why I won't buy another Rad Power bike (aka support your local bike shop)

Ah, well, I'm a professor, so I had to figure that out as part of my job! ;) There is a huge range of individual differences in how people learn and function. And, teaching has also shown me that there is also a huge range of preferences--one student's favorite thing about a class is what drives...

Why I won't buy another Rad Power bike (aka support your local bike shop)

Different folks have different preferences and learning styles. :)

New buyer, little to no knowledge

Flash, I'm glad you found these forums useful. :) A small caveat, shared with the kindest of intentions...a bike with a lot posts related to problems may be a bike with higher volume sales. I think these threads are most useful for us bike owners to get information from other owners, but they...

Learning to ride an ebike: How ebiking skills are different from general cycling skills, and how they develop

Douglas, you hit the nail on the head!!! :) Truly, it is a transformational thing having an ebike!

Learning to ride an ebike: How ebiking skills are different from general cycling skills, and how they develop

I need mine to start when facing uphill and some other times also... I did hav my son’s taken off before he testrode his ebike because I thought he might bump it and think ebikes were dangerous. We had his throttle put back on after he was well adjusted to his bike. I don’t think he’s ever...

Learning to ride an ebike: How ebiking skills are different from general cycling skills, and how they develop

Learning not to bump or twist the throttle on a stopped ebike. Yes! For sure! I accidentally flipped my brand new bike when I first got it. I also added a throttle lever later and accidentally bumped it with my elbow when grabbing my water bottle. I do use the throttle touch when walking my...

Learning to ride an ebike: How ebiking skills are different from general cycling skills, and how they develop

I only have had the bike fall when stopped AND under a heavy load— a couple of gallons of milk and other groceries... a laptop and books... I use side baskets. A cargo bike type platform kickstand would be a help. I also have to keep a hand on the handlebars when stopped under load. with a...

Learning to ride an ebike: How ebiking skills are different from general cycling skills, and how they develop

The rear rack battery location does not and has never presented a problem for me. I must take care when the is loaded with heavy groceries or if I have loaded my computer bag on one side and I am stopped. No issues with riding. No issues when the bike is not loaded. I haven’t been comfortable...

    Pedego Boomerang diagnosis

Do you have a Pedego dealer near you? If not, I suggest contacting Pedego's telephone tech support. Warranties are generally only good for the first owner and do not transfer, but they can advise on where to take it to get it looked at. :)

Learning to ride an ebike: How ebiking skills are different from general cycling skills, and how they develop

I've learned to manage the balance issues with my bike when it is loaded. I do think these things are worth mentioning, for sure! Pedego does make models with downtube batteries. https://www.pedegoelectricbikes.com/product/trail-tracker/ https://www.pedegoelectricbikes.com/product/elevate/...

Oh, and go and test ride lots of bikes, so you can see what you like. :) Bike fit is important, too!

New to Ebikes what to choose?

My family members and I all have hub drive ebikes and they are terrific for how we use them--urban/suburban roads and bike trails, paved and unpaved. We do not do mountain biking. They require little maintenance. Yes, it is hard to change a rear flat. If you are not handy/mechanical, I suggest...

Looking for a workout mountain e-bike that allows you to quickly disable all assistance as needed (without turning it off off) Zero gear below Eco.

That's how I feel without any assist on my ebike, too. It's amazing how HEAVY an ebike is compared to a conventional bike!

Learning to ride an ebike: How ebiking skills are different from general cycling skills, and how they develop

I've been riding my ebike for over a year now, and am nearly at 4,000 miles of riding. In that year, I've noticed areas of my own skill development. I was a good bike rider before getting an ebike, though somewhat lapsed (I hadn't ridden much for about 6 years). There are, though, some...

Class 1 as best type of ebike for teens

That's an interesting idea. There are some people with disabilities who need to go faster with a throttle, though ... it's tough because though some people really need throttles in order to use ebikes, they are easy for kids to abuse...

Class 1 as best type of ebike for teens

I completely agree! I only use the throttle for starts if I'm on a hill, need to start fast, or if my knee is bothering me. :)
