2nd battery for Turbo 5.0 costs how much?

Maybe in the UK/EU, but here in the US Bosch batteries are quite a bit more... even the "old style" external PowerPak units

2nd battery for Turbo 5.0 costs how much?

Brose leaves battery sourcing to bike manufacturers, and Specialized Turbo ebikes use Brose motors

Bafang Ultra Owners - Does Your Battery Remaining Percentage Jump Around Under Load?

Glad to know the official name, I always called it "resting" versus "load" voltage/percentage. It's definitely more pronounced at low charge levels. Yamaha Bosch Shimano etc systems don't seem to do this, though...

What is Your opinion/experience on the badass box for Bosch active line plus ...

Here's an example of someone's Yamaha-powered ebike being disabled by the crank magnet trick: Post in thread 'Haibike PW-ST not working.' https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/haibike-pw-st-not-working.45826/post-532147

What is Your opinion/experience on the badass box for Bosch active line plus ...

I wouldn't try the crank magnet trick on a Gen3 Bosch - I've heard stories about FW detection of it, rendering the motor virtually useless. It sometimes works for a while, but then poof, your power's gone. As far as reaching speeds of 30+mph (if the chip works), unless you can pedal 120+rpms...

    Welcome to Disability and Ebiking

Welcome, your message is inspiring and optimistic! I'm glad you have two ebikes that combine to suit your needs. Just a couple of points of clarification... First, nearly all Bafang systems come with throttles, hub or mid-drive (especially DIY kits). "Mainstream" ebikes with Bosch, Shimano...

    Bosch battery failures

Feel free to store your batteries as you wish, of course, but please watch this video for a bit more of the technical explanation why it's stressful on the battery's cells to keep them full, regardless of brand, BMS etc. Note that the part that's relevant here starts just 39 seconds in and only...

    Bosch battery failures

A friend who bought my first eMTB, a 2015 Haibike FS RX with Bosch (400Wh), found last year that his approximate range had decreased by close to half what it was when I owned it (early 2017). He didn't have very many charge cycles (@50), but against my advice he frequently stored it fully...

Yamaha Supply Line Issues, No Wheel Until at Least September

I believe that the OEM hub has a unique speed sensor that a replacement wheel won't have, and the OEM hub can't be transferred to the new wheel without a total rebuild. As far as Yamaha's supply chain issue goes, many if not most bicycle brands have similar problems. Even behemoths like Giant...

    Rained On Big Time

Agreed. I don't want to rain on anyone's ebike parade, but here's what I've heard from professional motor repair stories: Motors will almost always function fine immediately after extreme H2O exposure (including brief but total submersion), but after some time, the results will appear (noises...

    New Luna Fixed Stealth Owner

Luna Stealth comes with a 55T chainring, which is pretty large. I'd think lowering to ~45T would help more with pedaling up steep hills, though the bike's top speed will be cut. Maybe ask Luna?

    New Luna Fixed Stealth Owner

It's just common sense to ride an ebike for "short" commutes! Faster than a regular bike and less sweat to boot. A brief, flat ride on a hot day at slower speeds with no pedal assist still results in heavy perspiration, at least for me. Not only that, but such short commutes can be bad for...

Shimano steps is not a good choice (no spare parts for the drive)

AFAIK, Bosch is the only "Mainstream" ebike motor manufacturer that offers any parts for motor service, and it's limited to bearings (no electronics). If your torque sensor goes and your warranty's done, you're SOL - same with Shimano, Yamaha (mostly on Giant ebikes), and Brose (Specialized)...

Shimano steps is not a good choice (no spare parts for the drive)

Shimano e8000, e7000, and EP8 all use the same torque sensor, the failure of which is the primary cause of the E010 error. My e8000's sensor failed at ~2500 miles, and I took excellent care of it

how do you feel about the current regulatory system for e-Bikes in the US?

What makes me crazy is how my class 3 eMTB goes from being a bicycle on pavement to a motorized vehicle on "natural surfaces."
