What do people do about tire punctures?

Are Electric Bikes Legal In Canada?

Although Toronto wrote those bylaws enforcement is zero. Cops have better things to spend time on. I ride Toronto paths almost every day no issues. If your stupid and run someone over then I am sure they will use those bylaws against you. Otherwise nobody cares.

The elusive $1k quality E-bike... Coming this year?

It really depends how much you ride. If your only a casual rider a cheap bike gets you out there and the low quality components used simply don’t matter. If you never rode as an adult you might find you don’t enjoy cycling much and the bike just sits in your garage. Maybe a single speed ebike...

Are you happy with your ebike’s noise levels? E-motor, tires, shifting, etc.

Brose motors are almost dead silent in any situation. So are direct hub motors. The noisiest ebikes are fat bikes, you can hear the tires from quite a distance. It’s the quiet that I really appreciate when riding an ebike.

    Fat bikes a fad?

57c is not even close to a fat tire. Try 100c!

Ideal display for Watt Wagons (future feature)

I would go for minimal information on-board . Speed, battery state of charge, assist level. Everything else Bluetooth to my cellphone which would be charged off of the display. Phone would allow more info, bigger brighter screen, customization, gps, mapping apps...

What shoes do you ride with?

For winter riding this combination is the best. Thin insulation, a rubber undersole, a defined heel. That plus real wool socks. Very comfortable down to -5C. My feet don’t feel any different than summer riding other than the extra cushioning. For summer riding I think someone should make a shoe...

    Fat bikes a fad?

I have to agree with teskow. After surviving two rounds of chemo I could barely walk up a flight of stairs. The ebike got me outside and riding. I started with lots of assist but over time I have gotten stronger and now I hypermile using very little assist. I can get back on my non ebike and do...

    Roads closed due to COVID

I am surprised that nobody picked up on the uniquely Canadian measurement that politicians came up with to make sure everyone would understand. You aren’t Canadian if you don’t extinctively know how far you can hook a faster skater from.

Which suspension post for a comfort upright bike

    Compact Bike vs Folding

Folders are really good for fitting in cars so that you can take them with you when you travel. Other than that they are heavy with a harsh ride. If your commute is less that 10k a folder could work. If you need to go further get a compact bike because the ride is so much better plus they ride...

    Roads closed due to COVID

I mainly ride west of Humber river and the foot traffic is no problem. Easily average 21kph without close calls. With closed roads there is lots of room. Mississaugua trails are even less busy.

Reason(s) for the harsh Vado ride

I am at minimum preload and rebound fork is not locked. My local LBS is so busy that I am unable to hang around and pick the brains of the mechanics like I normally would. Hopefully in a month things will go back to normal and I can investigate finding a softer spring or replacement fork.

    Budget Discussions

The picture in my post is my Porsche Boxster S but I find driving it very frustrating because I can never let it loose. Always holding back its true potential requires a level of control have never had. Porsche puts on track days at Mosport race track where you can thrash brand new Porsche’s all...
