Friendly Advice To New Buyers -- Avoid Indiegogo & Crowdfunding

I looked at this and saw several red flags besides the first one, "how is this possible at this price?" How many ebikes have you seen that can fully charge in 90 minutes? Here's my list of things I see in lots of scams and see in this one. 1. Self cleaning. Really? Have you ever heard of...

Passed by accident where a biker got killed :/

I have a car that does something like this, perhaps not REALLY annoying BUT definitely annoying, it beeps at me if I cross a lane line without my turn signal on. The technology isn't perfect as it doesn't work if the stripe is dirty or excessively worn. I think there is a camera "seeing" the...

Choosing an E-Bike Class 1 versus Class 3?

It seems to me there are 2 issues with riding a class 3 bike where it is prohibited. First, will you be stopped, potentially ticketed, or even have your bike confiscated? Sounds like this varies by area and how many people are abusing things. But the second is liability. If you are in an...

    A Road-Cyclist Thoughts On E-Bikes

The Vado SL looks very tempting. I understand that the battery can't be removed. Besides the obvious, and probably surmountable issue that you have to park the bike near an outlet to charge it, I have another question that may have an obvious answer that I'm not seeing. What happens if the...

    A Road-Cyclist Thoughts On E-Bikes

I still don't have an ebike though I'm shopping. There are a lot of reasons to get an ebike - commuting, physical limitations, fun, being able to ride with stronger riders. All good reasons. I have only 2 issues. Many new ebike owners are riding faster than their skills allow, often a safety...

I use butterfly handlebars on my Surly, a little odd looking but keeps me upright while allowing for position changes.

Thanks Dewey. Can you elaborate a little on shift detection? Why would I want it and how to compensate without it?

Leaning toward Kona Dew-e. Your experience

I've heard that a bike shop a couple of hours from here has a 2020 Dew-e, which I believe had a Bosch motor. I can hold out for the Shimano Steps motor on the 2021 if it is substantially better.

Leaning toward Kona Dew-e. Your experience

My Surly Long Haul Trucker and I have been happily aging together. But both of us are showing some wear. I'm 68 but my Surly would rather not say. I'm thinking an e bike is in my future to keep up with friends who are getting ebikes and give me some help on hills or windy days. I have a list...
