    Maxxis Re-fuse tires

After getting a lot of advise on tires I had decided on the Specialized Sawtooth that Anton uses on his Dew-e to commute. The tires I have are too slick. BUT I can't find these available as 650b any longer. So I'm thinking of the Pathfinder which I can find. Do you use this tire Stefan? How...

    ebike for commuting, europe

Thanks. Though I have Maxxis Re-Fuse they have the same issues for my city riding and I'm looking for something else that is safer in a little mud or slightly wet conditions. I'm not sure I am ready to try tubeless but definitely need something else. Thanks for your response.

    ebike for commuting, europe

Anton,. What tires came on your Dew-E? Do you like them for your commute? Have they had any flats? Do you ever ride on slick spots like a little mud on the road? How did they do?

    Maxxis Re-fuse tires

Thanks Alaskan. Did you try these tires with tubes before going tubeless? If so, how did they do on punctures with tubes?

    Maxxis Re-fuse tires

Another issue with my Maxxis tires is that they don't do well in mud. I rode through a muddy spot the other day and slid into a wall. No harm to me or the bike but probably not something that would happen on my other bike with better tread. Reading reviews, these tires are rated down for...

    Maxxis Re-fuse tires

Thanks Stefan. Yes, I believe these are tires designed for gravel. And, yes the rims are tubeless ready. I've been reading about tubeless tires but don't think I'm ready to convert. It sounds messy and fiddly to get set up and my thumbs are a bit arthritic. The people I ride with don't use...

    Maxxis Re-fuse tires

I've only ridden about 550 miles on my Kona Dew-E DL bike. It has Maxxis Re-fuse tires. I already got a flat - of course on the back tire. There was a glass sliver in it. I do a lot of city riding and glass etc. is not always avoidable. I probably only got flats every few years on my Surley...

    My Kona Dew-e DL 2022

I love my bike but just got my first flat at a little over 500 miles on these tires. The rear tire, of course. My husband picked me up as we wanted to have our first experience changing the tire in the garage in case we had problems. Everything went fine til We went to put the tire back on...

Actually WW I Memorial. Should have stopped in to say hi as I don't live far from here. I used their parking lot as a flat easy bike loop when I was rehabbing my knees after replacements. On weekdays during covid, not many cars thrn.

What are the most important factors when buying an ebike?

Another option is to look for a quality slightly used bike. It will take more research and effort but you might get lucky. Leave a little in your budget to get a tuneup once you get it. I'm not sure how likely you are to find something in Finland but worth a try.

    Help finding a suitable ebike

My untechnical understanding is that a motor on a rear hub is more likely to overheat or just not have the same range as a similarly sized motor on a mid drive on hills because it is pushing the bike uphill rather than using the bike's drivetrain. That said, depending on what kinds of hills...

E-Bike Batteries Are Catching on Fire Way Too Often And delivery workers are demanding safe charging stations.

They have to compete with delivery people on ebikes so probably not.

    Help finding a suitable ebike

I can't speak to specific bikes but your spouse's 3 requirements all add to price. My ebike has my first disk brakes in a lifetime of bicycling and I love them - very responsive. I'd never go back. In general a mid drive motor will be better on hills. But I've never had a bicycle with...

New rider confession: my butt hurts

Things that help me: - Changing position on the bike. Sometimes I sit more forward, sometimes a little more upright on my sit bones. The shift in position is small but makes a difference. I also don't use toe clips or clipless pedals so while there is a more efficient place for my feet I can...

Where are your favorite places to ride?

I enjoy riding trails on my travels. Since I'm new to ebikes this has all been on non-assisted bikes but I checked some of my favorites to see if they allow e-bikes. It looks like these do but check specifics as they may change: The Mickelson Trail in South Dakota allows Class 1 and 2 pedal...
