What is the advantage to installing a speed chip Yamaha PW-SE

I installed a dongle from bikespeed.de, a German firm, on my 2016 Haibike AllMtn with a Yamaha PW motor. It was worked flawlessly all these years. I do not notice any difference in performance other than that I can exceed 20 mph with motor support. I cannot speak about other dongles, however.

A really good handle bar cell phone mount?

You can certainly do that with the Peak Design mount. The cell phone can mount either vertically or horizontally. I have shot many videos with my iPhone mounted on my handlebars that way. The iPhone stabilization is very good. The videos it produces are very smooth.

A really good handle bar cell phone mount?

The Peak Design mount+case is what I use. It's excellent. The bike mount comes with a GoPro mount, so you can have both a GoPro camera and your cell phone mounted simultaneouly, the GoPro in front and the cell phone in back. The case is part of a system; there is a car mount and a mini-tripod...

    lets talk motor wattage

Power ratings by manufacturers are meaningless. Manufacturers don't tell us how they measure their motors' power, and each manufacturer probably does it differently. The easiest way to comply with EU law is to say that the motor has a nominal output of 250 watts, even when they can provide 500...

    Phone Mount Suggetions?

That's what I use. It's very solid and very quick to attach and detach. It also comes with a GoPro camera mount. You must use the Out Front Bike Mount with the Peak Design cell phone case, which is thin and well-designed. It's part of a system which includes a car dash mount and a nifty...

Hello, and I think I may need to move on?

You're probably right. I was just trying to be helpful in providing @AHicks with a link since he said he could not find the electric Yuba Kombi. I am familiar with Bosch and Yamaha motors. I have found Yamaha motors to be much stronger than most Bosch motors. The one exception is the Bosch...

Hello, and I think I may need to move on?

I use gears to climb hills with either one of my mid-drives, a Haibike AllMtn Full-Seven and a Yuba Spicy Curry AT. It's my reality every time I ride, not a fantasy. Many mid-drive cargo bikes come equipped with appropriate gearing for climbing hills. My Yuba has 11-46 teeth cassette, and...

Hello, and I think I may need to move on?

Here you go: Yuba Kombi E5 Don't mean to steal your thunder @m@Robertson, but I happened to be looking at the Yuba website just now.

Hello, and I think I may need to move on?

Try what @Tom@WashDC said first. It's a good, inexpensive suggestion. My daughter rides a Radwagon 4 and she ferries my granddaughter to preschool, so I am familiar with its limitations. I personally ride a Yuba Spicy Curry AT with a Bosch Cargo Line mid-drive motor. I have no problems riding...

I get to work with Chris king.

Very cool, @fooferdoggie! Somehow I like the plywood version better than the solid wood one. The link in post #1 gives a price of $230 for the tools only. How much is the case? Not that I service my own hubs, but I do appreciate fine tools.

Yamaha has a new motor for 2023

I agree with you. I also have a 2016 Yamaha PW motor with over 15,000 miles and no problems. Nevertheless, I had the seals and gears replaced as preventive maintenance. It's good for another 15,000 miles. It would also be great if Yamaha made backwards-compatible adapters so you could mount a...

    Passenger Hauler

Welcome to the forum, @catgirleugenics! My girlfriend rides a Tern HSD fitted with the Bosch motor rated at 65Nm. She likes it a lot, but felt she needed a bit more power when taking her 10 and 12-year old grandchildren as passengers (each separately). So, my recommendation would be to get the...

please help remove speed limit on 500 watt vivi bike

There are dongles for certain ebike motor brands that can do that. For example, you can explore the German bikespeed site to find out which brands work with their dongles: Bosch, Yamaha, Brose, and a couple of others. There are several other dongle makers, but in general they address the major...

Do you pedal or just ride full throttle? Now Closed

I don't peddle or sell anything. However, I pedal my ebikes and neither one has a throttle. That's how I get my exercise. As for riding at full speed while pedaling, it's a matter of being in the right gear. Bikes and ebikes are already designed to do that.

Where do you get your bike repaired/maintained?

I use MJ's Cyclery, which is a mile from my home. I can walk that distance after dropping off my bike or to go pick it up. They are not ebike dealers but they will work on my bike as long as it does not involve any electrical work. Fortunately, neither one of my ebikes has ever required...

BRAIN article on using e-bikes for rehabilitation

I will just answer the three points quoted above. The conventional bicycle riding experience is desirable because it is such a good experience. I too come from being a lifelong cyclist, with around 70 years of experience. I learned to ride when I was a kid. When I ride I feel exhilaration and...

BRAIN article on using e-bikes for rehabilitation

Thank you for the clarification and for the link to the long version, which I read. I am sorry your heart condition sets some limitations. With regard to torque sensing, I'm afraid we will have to agree to disagree. I like torque sensing precisely because it makes riding ebikes more natural...

BRAIN article on using e-bikes for rehabilitation

Pray tell. Why is torque sensing dangerous for heart patients? Both my ebikes have torque as well as cadence sensing. I wear a pacemaker and did not know I was in danger. My pacemaker was installed in February, I ride 3 or 4 times a week 20 to 40 miles per ride, and so far no problems. Don't...

Looking for a cross between Bike Friday Haul-A-Day, Tern GSD and Yuba Spice Curry All Terrain.

@Dewey, thank you for the link to the Rodford Big Billy. What an interesting cargo bike! I like the steel frame. Steel is real, as they say, with its combination of strength and ductility. Perhaps Rodford could make a custom bike that meets @Lull's requirements.

Looking for a cross between Bike Friday Haul-A-Day, Tern GSD and Yuba Spice Curry All Terrain.

I ride the Yuba Spicy Curry AT and my girlfriend rides the Tern HSD (a lesser version of the GSD, if you will). My daughter rides a Radwagon, a hub motor bike which I understand you do not want, but it's a cargo bike nonetheless. Based on my experience with these three cargo bikes I would say...
