In my experience overly stiff shifter comes from bad adjustment of the shifter cable. Review the procedure on Enviolo site and try to improve their adjustment.

Not sure I follow. A rigid rack on the bottom part of the fork will have zero damping. It will suffer every bump in the road like a rear rack.

If only Enviolo had a manual / automatic switch on the shifter.... I cant fathom why they missed that.

Any interaction issue between the Specialized control and the manual shifter? Do you have to switch the Hub to manual at every restart?
