What Do You Do With Your Old Unused Conventional Bikes?

I sold mine on Facebook Marketplace, as I recall I got $40 or $50.

Are E-Bikes Safe For Young Teenagers?

I’d say yes if they are responsible but one with no throttle and limited to 20mph.

How's the bike infrastructure where you ride?

I live outside of town but the closest town, about 20,000 people just got a bike grant of $200,000. I figure half of that will go to a study and the other half will go to painting a stripe on the road. They built one multiuser path that you feel every joint in the concrete and then planted a...

    Trek Verve+3 battery question

I have a Verve +3. I have 6000 miles on mine. You should be able to see the total miles on the display. If the battery is fully charged you should be able to see the estimated range. Mine generally shows a range between 45 and 55 miles on the tour power setting. I’ve replaced a cracked rear...

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

We finally got a nice day in Gulf Shores Alabama, sunny, low humidity and temps in the 70’s. Not something we see back home very often, an alligator. We did 19 miles, our longest ride of our stay and last one of out stay.

    The Tariff Questions?

I agree, hard to predict what if any tariffs will be on e bikes. American made? Is there one? I don’t honestly know either way.

I rode 16 miles on a bike path in Gulf Shores today. It parallels a highway that goes to Fort Morgan at the end of the peninsula. The bike path only goes halfway. We’re lucky hurricane Rafael didn’t keep coming north but turned west and has died down. A couple of pictures. Ones a nice church.

We continue riding in Gulf Shores Park. They have a lot of raised walkway/bridges over low and swampy areas. I’m not sure how long this one was, maybe over a mile. This a place we took a break at a walkway and viewing area. We rode 12 miles today. Great weather for temperatures highs in...

We hauled our bikes to Gulf Shores Alabama. They have lots of bike trails in the park. We are taking fairly short rides, a little under 10 miles. This picture is through the woods.

Right To Repair/Modify, Who Owns Your Bike?

This has been going on in the automotive world for a while and John Deere tried it recently. The logic is you own the physical object but they own the software. Most of these attempts have been shot down. The right to repair has generally been extended to the owner and you can’t lock them out...

    19.5 mph top speed

I got into a disagreement with my dealer who said the speedometer and odometer was more accurate than the apps I use in my phone. Anybody who has experimented with knows the phones are surprisingly accurate. Just compare it to your cars speed and odometer and/or your car’s gps.

    19.5 mph top speed

I feel mine cut out at 19.4 mph. I’ve also discovered the speedometer is off maybe 6% or so. This does add up to cutoff happening to soon.

    GPS and its accuracy?

My understanding is WASS is an independent of the GPS satellites. There are 3 of them. The issue is what your receiver is setup for, it has to be WAAS enabled. WAAS basically takes the accuracy from 10 meters to 1 meter. Years ago not everything had WAAS but now even iPhones have it. WAAS...

    GPS and its accuracy?

Stefan I’d say Jim1348 answers is correct. I’d say when you say dual GPS receiver you most likely are talking dual frequency, which as I recall is L1 and L2. I think one improvement they made is added a third frequency to the newer satellites. Why it takes longer I’m not sure but it might be a...

    GPS and its accuracy?

I see this discussed all the time. I’m a retired land surveyor and started using it in the early 1990’s. A couple of points. Originally this was designed for the United States military. Of course smart people found other uses. Until the year 2000 there was something called Selective...

    19.5 mph top speed

I’ve had a Trek Verve +3 for three years now. To be honest I don’t think the motor has enough power to go much over 20 mph on flat ground with no wind. A tail wind or downhill would be a different story. You should have bought a Class III bike if you wanted more.

I rode 19 miles today. The farmers out in the field, this one is combining beans. I also hit 6000 miles total on my bike today. Not a particularly special number but my goal has been to ride 2000 miles a year. The bike is 3 years old but I’m about 3 1/2 weeks late in hitting my goal.

I rode 17 miles today. I picture that is becoming common in this area as the soybeans and corn are being harvested. This is a pretty small combine by today’s standards.
