Using Aventon batteries on other e-bikes

Grin makes several products for mounting batteries. They also have a video with tips on how to do it: https://ebikes.ca/product-info/grin-products/battery-anchors.html I use their "Bottle Bob" in addition to the 2 cage bosses to mount a 10# DB9C battery: Very solid. It hasn't shifted at...

    Xpedition Auxiliary Battery

Yeah, these padded cases can get expensive but so are the batteries. Safety during transport is also a consideration. I consider it insurance and use these cases from Nanuk: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FM8I1XW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 Many sizes are available...

    Xpedition Auxiliary Battery

Nice build! It should give you a significant range boost. Do you notice any difference in bike balance with the battery weight on one side? One minor improvement I can suggest is to round off the corners of that aluminum angle bracket. I know from experience that you will eventually catch...

Largest pannier for real backpack insertion?

I'm not sure what you have against a convertible pannier / backpack. This new 25L model from Arkel looks promising: https://arkel.ca/collections/bike-panniers/products/bug-pannier-backpack Comes in several colors, uses rugged YKK zippers, has a weatherproof laptop pouch, and will fit almost...

52V, 20Ah Downtube Battery pack Design Feedback

How will all this "smart" battery technology work in areas with no Wi-Fi or cellular coverage? Will the battery still be functional in these areas?

Using Aventon batteries on other e-bikes

As long as the voltage and polarity are correct on the XT60 connector, It should work. Give it a try. It isn't likely you will damage anything. The only hassle I see is how to mount the Aventon battery on the second bike.

Aventon Aventure Charger!! ---This is Madness!!

It's interesting you mention this. Coincidentally, I met a fellow rider at a trailhead last week. He had an Aventon, and I noticed a short wire hanging off his battery. When I asked, he told me about the proprietary Aventon connector. He wanted to use his Grin Satiator so he bought a short...

52V, 20Ah Downtube Battery pack Design Feedback

How is the data link handled between the battery and your server? WiFi, cellular, satellite? I live and ride in an area that has poor to no cellular coverage. Will this plan work for me?

Need Recommendation For A Lift To Work On Our Two Heavy Ebikes

Since you already have the PRS-15, save your money and do what I do. Just lift the lighter front end of the bike with the rear wheel still on the floor. Then connect the stand and pivot the heavier rear end off the floor. It's even easier if you set the front wheel on a milk crate first...

52V, 20Ah Downtube Battery pack Design Feedback

Personally, I prefer basic black. The colors are nice but where I ride, I would just as soon not call attention to the fact that I'm riding an e-bike. Are these batteries available now? Are they UL approved? If so, how do I order one?

    Thinking outside the pannier

+1 on Arkel. I have 3 sets of panniers, 2 handlebar bags and a rear rack bag all from Arkel. I've been using them for many years without any problems. I particularly like the fact that they use high quality YKK zippers. I have at least a half dozen bags I no longer use due to cheap zipper...

    The transition

A few years ago, I was surprised to learn just how much Co2 grasslands absorb. I used to cut my fallow fields once a year, but now do it every 3 or 4 years, just to keep the invasives under control. Not sure just how much I reduce the Co2 level, but it's an excuse to avoid the work. 😁

Archer Components Going Out of Business

Interesting product. Thanks for the heads up. I have a few questions though, like how a single derailleur can work with 3 to 14 cog cassettes. How does it compensate for the different pitch chains. Hopefully, the Archer shifters will hold out long enough for some reviews to show up with answers.

    Electric Air Pumps 2024

Yeah, AAA is only good if you can drag your disabled bike out to a paved road. For me anyway, for most of the places I ride, it's better than nothing. AAA or not, I doubt you will find any tow truck that will go off road on a bike trail. Having to drag your bike a mile or so to a paved road...

Archer Components Going Out of Business

I have them on 4 of my bikes. Two are the first generation but still work well. I did replace the Archer batteries with an aftermarket brand though, when the OEM batteries failed. I only have to charge them 2 or 3 times per season. The problem I had was getting the batteries out of the...

Archer Components Going Out of Business

I got this email from Archer today: We're not stoked to say this... But the time has come to shut down our business. We have one last batch of batteries, chargers and remotes (sorry no more shifters). Head over to the shop to get what you need to keep your ride shifting...
