eBay (UK) to ban private e-bike sales over fire fears

    Can California be far behind??

Share a recent frustrating experience that made you want to switch bikes!

The problems I have are not necessarily the fault of the bike, but rather the accessories I have bolted to it. So far, I have no desire to replace the bike, just some parts of it. For example, I'm sick of the noisy OEM hydraulic disc brakes. I've tried every trick in the book to quiet them...

    new batteries

Graphene is an expensive material but it does have advantages. Safer, faster charging and longer life over lithium but at what cost? What will be the price of an e-bike battery?

    Cycling Classic Helmet Visor Brim

I've never seen a helmet that comes with a decent visor. I have several of these Bell visors that I attach with Velcro: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GCBEOJ4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Unfortunately, they are no longer available.

    Touch up paint

Late to the party here. I haven't had much luck touching up the paint on the frame rails where the panniers rub against them. It has to be redone every season. I tried tape, but it doesn't last long and looks shabby. Spiral wrap works but it's hard to keep in place and looks ugly. I came...

    Electric Air Pumps 2024

Actually, Fumpa pumps are designed and made in Melbourne Australia. https://www.google.com/search?q=where+are+fumpa+pumps+made&oq=where+are+fumpa+pumps+made&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRigATIHCAIQIRigAdIBCTkzODFqMGoxNagCCLACAQ&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

    Charging Procedure

Over time, those sparks take their toll on connectors. Why beat up a fragile, hard to replace battery connector when AC outlets are cheap and relatively easy to fix. IMO, manufacturers say to plug in AC first to limit liability should someone get a potentially more severe shock.

    Redshift ShockStop "Full Suspension" Review

I think this is important for riders who lean forward and put more weight on the bars than those who ride sitting upright. I use a stem riser with my shockstop stem, and ride upright with most of my weight supported by the saddle. I use only one yellow #50 (lightest) elastomer and it works...

People for Bikes: Progress on Ebike Laws in the US

Politicians become quite unpopular when they try to legislate away someone's property, or their ability to use it. Surron's, as well as "class 4" e-bikes, are already illegal to ride in many locations and no law to date has successfully stopped it. Perhaps this bill will stimulate law...

People for Bikes: Progress on Ebike Laws in the US

I'm not saying it will be difficult for a lab to test a battery or bike, I just don't think many of the cheap imports will pass. I was mostly joking, but personally, I did drive 3 hours to buy my bike since there were no dealers in my area.

People for Bikes: Progress on Ebike Laws in the US

As usual, legislation like SB 1271 fails to address minute technical details. Where possible, the industry will just "spin" the stats to comply. It will however, create a lot of business for the testing labs. In the short term, the bill will most certainly impact e-bike sales in the state of...

    Zen Photon Pro- Preorder | 1040Wh UL Certified battery | 500W nominal/900W peak power Torque-sensing motor w/ Throttle | USD 2999 | CAD 3999

I have both the Thudbuster ST and LT versions. Which one is best depends on the type of riding you do. I have identical saddles mounted on each post and swapping is very easy. I prefer the LT for some of the rough trails I ride due to the longer travel. The ST works fine for road surfaces...

    LiOn battery draw tester

The only one I'm familiar with is a product from Grin Tech in Vancouver. It's called a "Grinspector" but unfortunately, it was discontinued in 2022: https://ebikes.ca/battery-grinspector.html There was an EBR member selling one in the classified section last year. You might try to PM him to...

What kind of bell do you use?

I've got a drawer full of bells, and found most don't last very long. So far, I like this one from Crane the best. Pricey, yes, but it's lasted for several years now, longer than any other I've tried...

    interesting new garmin radar data

The Varia is definitely a useful safety device for on road riding. I considered getting one for trail use, but reviewers say an oncoming cyclist won't trigger an alert. Has there been any improvement in sensitivity with the new app & firmware? I'm not a speeder, I like to enjoy the scenery...
