Error 640 on Bosch Powertube 500 battery after 1000 hours of use

It is relatively painless and should take only about an hour, assuming you have tools. So, yes.

Error 640 on Bosch Powertube 500 battery after 1000 hours of use

Hopefully cleaning the contacts will solve the issue. If, not, I'd try to arrange a remote Bosch diagnostic test which will target both installed battery and motor. I'm fairly sure it can be done using your laptop and a usb cable to the intuvia. Or maybe you will have to download some software...

    Rohloff e-14 oil leak

https://thelazyrando.wordpress.com/2013/05/09/replacing-rohloff-hub-oil-seals/ Tools/seals mentioned are no longer for sale to end user, only the paper gaskets.

    Rohloff e-14 oil leak

I probably was not clear. My opinion is that seal service is a regular maintenance item. It used to be something you could do in your garage. At the two year mark, you'll have to start paying for both wheel shipping and seal replacement.

    Load4 75 e-cargo bike

I have a '22 Load60 and ride it in all kinds of terrain. It is very stable and managed anything I throw at it. My understanding is that the 75 is slightly less stable on turns, but not excessively so. This comment came from a salesperson at the dealership. My problems have been minor but very...

    Rohloff e-14 oil leak

Yes. First, the "little to no maintenance" claim is bunk. Replacing the seals should be easy, but they took the tools/seals out of the end-user catalog and made them "dealer-only."

Hypotheticals - would you replace your R&M with another R&M??

The outer insulation separated from the shifter at the strain relief boot, exposing a bundle of six wires. I believe one of these wires bent/broke while riding through a mess on an ungroomed trail. I immediately got a Nyon error code indicating the connection to E14 was lost. Pure conjecture on...

Hypotheticals - would you replace your R&M with another R&M??

You can change the gear to a usable one by taking the wheel off, the shifter off + have an 8mm wrench on hand, IIRC. I remember setting the gear to 14 when I replaced the shifter. First incident. I think the shifter itself was fine but the cable coming of the shifter was compromised in rough...

Hypotheticals - would you replace your R&M with another R&M??

2018 dual batt Charger NuVinci (now Enviolo) HS -- replaced with: 2019 dual batt Nevo GX Rohloff HS -- replaced with 2022 dual batt Load60 Touring w/ LinkGlide HS My application is touring -- all types of terrain, elevation etc. The first replacement was prompted by Enviolo -> Rohloff to...

Nyon and Rohloff e14 Forgets Start Gear Setting

Three things, hopefully something useful in here for you. 1. Unfortunately, Rohloff is responsible for the E14 system up to a certain point, then it's Bosch. My understanding is that any problem first is analyzed for "who is responsible?" 2. I am surprised AUS-Rohloff has been useless. I was...

Riese And Muller Nevo 2020 ( Electrical questions )

Only the top charger is compatible with your bike. It charges at a rate of 6A. The lower charger is a 4A charger compatible (different plug) with Bosch's recently introduced 'Smart System,' which did not exist at the time of your bike's manufacture. The dealer software is quite limited; I would...

    Some bicycle travel tips

MARC (Maryland regional rail) just put stickers on the "bikes welcome" signs disallowing ebike/e-mobility charging. I had to disconnect this past week. Not a problem for phones/laptops, which I don't understand given the number of recalls over the years for particular models presenting a fire...

    Superdelite trailer hitch issue

Hi — the reason your dealer is refusing to facilitate your plan is likely bc R&M will not support many trailers on their Control Technology (full suspension Homage/Delite/Load) models or step-thrus (Homage/Delite). You may obtain a list of supported trailers from R&M. The only one I recognized...

If you buy a bike with a Bosch motor, who owns the motor?

The rapid transition from “information wants to be free” to “trading some freedom for security” mindset shocked me. It’s also the miniaturization of components. 1998-2000, while I was in college, I’d go bid on crates of UNIX workstations at NASA auctions. It was for a project in parallel...

If you buy a bike with a Bosch motor, who owns the motor?

Thank you for the kind words. I think one issue here is the lack of “standard” pricing/transparency. There Is tremendous variability, probably a function of the relationship you have with the shop, as well as how the shop has structured their business practice. I’m pretty sure Bosch lets dealers...

If you buy a bike with a Bosch motor, who owns the motor?

I don’t disagree — the customer should have the option of keeping the motor. It is also an interesting topic. Truthfully, that a couple of vendors advertise a Bosch motor at $850 doesn’t tell me much. I don’t see ”authorized Bosch distributor/service center” I have no idea if this is the cost...

If you buy a bike with a Bosch motor, who owns the motor?

I suspect one aspect of this is that the price at which you purchase a new motor is based on return of the “core” to rebuild it, similar to car battery purchase. i think most Bosch owners here would want Bosch USA to have their motor in stock, and just for that reason would not put up a fuss...

If you buy a bike with a Bosch motor, who owns the motor?

The key word here is proprietary. I seem to recall being told by someone who would know that this is why Bosch demands return of the inoperative motor. Grain of salt bc I can’t remember who told me …
