Following Yamaha out the door: Stromer is bailing out of the US Market

I've tested an ST3, and honestly, it was really nice. My other top-dollar comparisons would be the Santa Cruz Skitch, Riese and Muller Delite, Specialized Vado 5.0, and Creo 2. The Skitch (***meant to say STROMER ST3) was shockingly compliant without suspension, and quieter than anything else by...

How's the bike infrastructure where you ride?

Increasingly it's used to slow cars down by reducing the size of the road (vehicle) lanes. With that in mind, planners have little incentive to design bicycle lanes in terms of a safe and cohesive system. Just as with your point.

    I bought a Grizl:ON CF 9, AMA

How do you know? A lot of high end vehicles are unreliable.

    I bought a Grizl:ON CF 9, AMA

Yeah just depends on what you value most. I don’t look for the most reliable car vs other available attributes. It’s a consideration but maybe not the top 3. FWIW I’ve heard the newer fazua is better than before. R&M is using it too.

    TQ motor

Gotta love the typical superlatives in that review of the Scott Silence bike, but at least they corrected it. Lol. "Highs: Silent motor... Pros: Silent motor... Let’s examine each part of the bike in finer detail, starting with the silent and powerful TQ motor... While not silent, the TQ HPR50...

    I bought a Grizl:ON CF 9, AMA

re: the noise comparison - Creo 2 isn’t much better, if at all. They’re both very present and high pitched compared to full size motors. I think the CF frame can amplify it too. With my C2 I had the same experience as Scooterboy, very tedious on climbs to where I’d just turn it off. Otherwise, a...

    Replacement wheel?

Yeah I wonder. The other quote (REI) was $225. The light is like $45. I’ve brought the bike to REI in the past and they did better work, so I figured they know what they’re talking about. Anyhow, all said and done. The bike is sold and gone. I credited the new owner to repair it.

    Replacement wheel?

The dealer quote for a new wheel and headlamp was $700. Paid a non-refundable $100 for the inspection (bike is safe) that could be applied to work. Spent $10k at this shop on e-bikes. If anyone wonders why LBS aren't doing well...

Class three bike with speed restriction feature?

I would make it easy and get a class 1 Bosch powered bike. Class 1 is generally way faster than most people can ride bikes to begin with. Guaranteed to be a great natural feeling bike. You'll forget about the throttle in about 3 seconds.

Thanks guys! It's going straight to the shop.

    Replacement wheel?

Here are two photos. It doesn't look like much, but I can't say how bad it really is. The movers insisted they were professionals with moving bikes, and against my better judgement I let them do it. I found that they basically flopped them on one another in the truck. Broke both front lights...

    Replacement wheel?

Selling my C380 and we noticed that our movers dented the rear wheel. What kind of costs are we in for, and could this be an opportunity to put on a better non-OEM wheel?

Ambulance hits Oregon cyclist then charges him nearly $2K for a ride to the hospital: lawsuit

Gotta love those depraved comments reflexively blaming the victim. Drivers (I’m one) are incapable of seeing their immense bias.

    Yamaha Leaving US Market

Funnily enough I walked past a Bosch dishwasher yesterday on a curb for trash. It looked to be about 5-10 years old. Stainless steel. Was surprised it was being junked. I know the owner of the place, a supremely handy person (even built his own house) and this was for their ADU rental. Must...

    19.5 mph top speed

Wow, I wonder if this is the situation with our Gazelles (also Bosch). They stop at 18.5 mph according to the display and my phone speedometer app.

    19.5 mph top speed

Going to go against the grain on warranty. E-bikes have very little resale value on the secondary market (just look at how cheap upway sells practically new bikes). So your realistic options are to live with it as-is, derestrict, or buy another buy while you wait 6 months to sell yours for 1/3...

DJI vs Bosch vs Pinion: Unbelievable Difference!!

Yep, that’s exactly right. If we’re out for exercise it’s no problem. If I’m using the e-bike as a car replacement to get somewhere without sweating profusely it would be nice to have more torque.

Has anyone retrofitted an Eviolo Automatiq?

Was very close to chopping the bike based on scrambler's excellent suggestions. Ultimately I chickened out. Most frames seem to allow space for such a device, including Gazelle's new Eclipse. Been riding a traditional gravel bike these days.

DJI vs Bosch vs Pinion: Unbelievable Difference!!

If it's just torque that can assist with climbing, I'm all for it. There are a few roads near me that my 75 nm Bosch motor just cannot handle.
