California DMV getting tough on e-motos?

Equivalent sized gas-powered motorcycles and scooters are some of the most efficient vehicles on the road. The have the safety equipment mandated by the USDOT; they take up little space in parking lots and roads, and they get 100 miles to a gallon. They pay gas tax and registration, that help...

    Black Friday?

There usually are sales for black Friday and cyber Monday. Most go on for more than a day or weekend. Some of the best deals I've seen are January to February, when new model year bikes start to ship. To be honest there are great prices now on Trek and Specialized; I believe from over ordering...

"It's not on fire, it just overheated"

The guy and his dad post videos mostly about gas powered bicycles; "Father and son on fast motorized bicycles." He posted the video 9 months ago. The company: TOB ebikes by Mike Moser.

"It's not on fire, it just overheated"

That's what he said to a passerby, as he tried to blow it out. Then this: He calls it an ebike, I call it a moped. This guy just lost a brand new $6000 bike! Very sad and laced with a little dark humor. "Get an ebike, they said, it'll be fun." We really need to tighten up our import...

I edited and added a second video. I don't have a need for a folder, but who knows what the future holds.

    (Art)istic eBike

Montague makes a great ebike folder. Excellent drive and battery integration, smart folding and fairly light for what it is. I just don't like the style and geometry. Personally, I don't want a step through. As I previously stated, I've followed this company a long time and when rumors were...

Properly tensioning the cable for the rear shimano shifter

When installing a cable you want to just snug it up. That's the easy part. You will always have to tune the shifting of the derailleur after a cable install. Sometimes you might get lucky and it's quick and easy. Skip towards the end because you aren't replacing, just attaching to the derailleur.

    Stem riser

I am 188cm and I ride large frame bikes. I had to have a little rise as well. You ride more when a bike fits correctly. Most people have some trial-and-error getting to the best fit.

    Sondors MXS Battery Mayhem

Before doing any tests, get the battery away from any combustibles and out of any occupied buildings. I hope you get it sorted, but I would get that pack out of my house. I personally know of two very serious fires from brand name batteries. I would take that pack to someone that knows what they...

    Why dogs don't ride MTBs

I have a video of riding my back field with Maisie.... yeah, another Scottish name for my Rough Collie. I wish I could post it. She was what most call a Lassie dog, 85 pounds and a runner, but not as fast as Skye. Loved the snow.

    Stem riser

The stem is the part that connects the handlebar to the steerer tube. A steerer tube extension, extends the your existing steerer tube.

    Stem riser

I needed some rise, but not as much as a steerer tube extension and as I do ride some rough trails I didn't want an adjustable stem. I went with a long (120 mm), and steep 40° stem. It gave me enough rise and is rock solid. Just another option to consider. A couple things about stems. The...

    Why dogs don't ride MTBs

8 weeks 2 years old Her name is Skye; she's Scottish and named after the Isle of Skye in Scotland. She herds everything, including me. The offspring of sheep farming BCs, right off the farm. Her best dog friend is the Great Dane next door.

    Why dogs don't ride MTBs

I have a 2 year old border collie and they can run 30 mph, turn on a dime and jump over most fences. I've had many dogs, and BC's are by far the most capable athletes of them all.
