    Class sticker?

I have similar experiences in rural PA. So many beautiful trails! We had a ban on the local trails a few years ago, but a small group of us worked for 18 months to get it overturned. The local, famous rail trail attracts tourists in the warm months, and with that comes the many fat tire 1000+...

    Class sticker?

"The bill would prohibit a person from tampering with or modifying an electric bicycle to change its speed capability, unless he or she appropriately replaces the classification label." http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/15-16/bill/asm/ab_1051-1100/ab_1096_bill_20151007_chaptered.htm A few years I...

Drop outs are dead would a torque arm help?

You aren't screwed. Worse case this Toronto shop can replace the dropouts. https://mariposabicycles.ca/services/#restorations

    Digital Torque Wrench

Click torque wrenches can go off calibration. They should be stored without any tension on the springs; set to zero. Experts say they should be checked after 5000 uses, or 12 months. Sitting in the toolbox is actually the worst thing for them. Frequent use they tend to stay true longer. Beam...

When was the last time You listened to a record album?

Seems like a lot of shared experiences. I remember purchasing my first good turntable when I was 13 or 14 years old in the 70's. We had a local Sterio Discounters, they had several stores on the east coast. It was a warehouse with no frills, but you could spend days looking at all the gear, from...

When was the last time You listened to a record album?

Remember taking a record album off the shelf, removing it from its sleeve, placing it on the turntable and just listening to the entire album? You sat down and often perused the liner notes, photos and memorabilia. Listening to music was an activity. Music has always been a big part of my life...

Total e-bike ban after a fatality in Key Biscayne, FLA

I shared many times how the bans in my county were enacted. Regulating ebikes is a very difficult thing to do and it's getting harder with all the motorbikes being imported by sellers that call the machines ebikes. Banning is seen by many communities as the only option they have, given the wide...

Do you support the US federal E-BIKE act?

Than it not working and we need to start giving cars away for free. Let's start with everyone making less than $20 an hour, that doesn't live with their parents. It's welfare for people that don't need it. It's taking money that could be better spent. It does buy votes, but no one considering a...

Do you support the US federal E-BIKE act?

The US has one mine and those materials are shipped to China. The US has regulated the industry to the point no company is willing to invest in the attempt. Then you have the states saying not in my back yard. https://time.com/6294818/lithium-mining-us-maine/ The world’s richest known lithium...

Do you support the US federal E-BIKE act?

EVs will be free of foreign entanglements? Our EPA doesn't allow mining of the materials to make EVs. Every day we are becoming more dependent on China. We are already getting it in the back door. Someone making 150 grand a year doesn't need help buying a car. Sure, handouts are popular...

Do you support the US federal E-BIKE act?

Yes, fiscal responsibility is crying. That is how we got to 2.2 trillion in debt. A baby born this minute in the US is $99,600 dollars in debt. Every person in the US owes that much. I'll never be okay giving welfare to any company or individual that doesn't need it.

Do you support the US federal E-BIKE act?

Some call the region Piedmont Mountains, or Piedmont Plateau. As the region tops out at around 1200 feet above sea level, it's really the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Part of the Appalachian Mountain range; I like the term Piedmont Highlands, and it is the historic name, and a...

Do you support the US federal E-BIKE act?

I live in rural Pennsylvania, surrounded by family farms, Amish farms, Mennonite farms and some corporate farms. Not a lot of the latter... yet. Rural America is nowhere near ready to go EV. And I'm not talking years away, I'm talking half century plus, away from that goal. If we want to take...

Do you support the US federal E-BIKE act?

With the economy we have and the standard of living for many in the country in decline, I can't make any argument to give welfare to any corporation or individual that doesn't need it. People making over 150 grand, can buy a car without the help of someone making 50 grand. As for all the other...

That might help the state coffers, but the tax credit is a federal tax credit and the gas tax that builds the most infrastructure is a federal gas tax.

Do you support the US federal E-BIKE act?

It's absurd to give money back to electric car buyers, given they pay nothing towards infrastructure, which is paid by the federal gas tax. They are already getting a gas tax break. I'd be good with a low income rebate for ebikes. Means tested, of course.

The Strangest Noise You've Ever Heard From Your E-Bike?

Bushings are typically used to save money on bearings. Some of the more "popular" pedals use bushings and if you ride dirt trails a lot, they will get noisy. That said, bearings have caused a lot of maintenance for me over the decades of riding limestone trails in my part of the country. The...

    to many choices !!

Fat tires help with fresh powder snow. You will be commuting on packed snow and ice. The only thing that works on that is studded tires. The contact patch isn't much different on a 4 inch tire and a 2.25 inch tire. The contact patch is what rolls on packed snow and ice. This was the first day...
