Hit the trails yesterday as it was a bit too windy for the road bike and made it home just before it started to rain.

    Pinion Motor.Gearbox.Unit (MGU)

Interesting discussion in the first video but five damaged T-Type derailleurs? Granted Rob does tend to thrash his bikes over terrain that many wouldn’t even think of attempting. I think the future for Pinion looks bright and may even spur other brands besides Nicolai to follow suit. On the...

    Specialized Turbo Levo

Yep. Not spec’d quite to the same level as the Pro but sports the same Fact 11 frame and I can do without the carbon hoops. It tips the scale at just over 12 kg (27lbs). The only major upgrade will be to the drivetrain. One touch that I do appreciate was the move to SWAT internal storage which...

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

I use a GP 9 which has been my go-to cam on most of my rides. I also have an Insta360 X3 which is a versatile tool for capturing 4K 360 footage/frames or for shooting 3rd person views. Editing with InstaStudio couldn’t be much easier. On my road bike, the Hero is attached by default to the...

Turbo Creo 2 Comp E5 (aluminum) is out, is a Vado SL 2 next?

You’re absolutely right. Her inseam is likely closer to 30” whereas mine is 29” and I’m 5’ 5ish. For reference, SOH on her small Creo 1 is 731mm and on the Creo 2 /E5 (49cm) it’s 705mm. Sizing now is much more specific further catering to a rider’s style compared to the previous gen. Getting...

Good to know that the 38 grip X2 is working out for you. Sounds like the improved damping and larger chassis has made a difference and the new dampers also have a wide adjustment range for ebikes. Also, a little bit of bling certainly doesn’t hurt. There’s also an option for an e-optimized 36...

Turbo Creo 2 Comp E5 (aluminum) is out, is a Vado SL 2 next?

Hi Emily, My wife who is 154 cm (5.0’) tall rides a small 2020 Creo CC is able to straddle the top tube with both feet planted without a problem so I think that you would be fine. Cranks are 170mm. She did undergo a Retul fitting at the LBS just to ensure that her bike was better suited to her...

I shoot using a Google Pixel 6a. It’s a pretty decent and affordable phone camera in its price range. No doubt that there are others who will swear by their high-end iPhones but being an avid Android enthusiast for many years, I’ll stick with what has worked for me for the time being. ..and...

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

I set out this evening for a 35 km ride a couple of hours before the rains arrived. It was serenely quiet with the exception of the melodious trill of red winged blackbirds and an army of croaking frogs to keep me entertained.

Lol. You truly are a marketing genius. Think of how many pairs of tires Spec would have sold if only they could have come up with a more creative moniker for an trail tire. How ‘bout Rock and Roll. ;)

It's been somewhat of a tumultuous week on the weather front here but we’ve still managed to squeeze in a few rides in between showers. Glad to see the rains though as it’s been a blessing for those who have been fighting the wildfires up north. 👍 Today the sun finally broke through and (not...

I’m envious of the epic conditions that most of you are able to take advantage in particular @RabH. We’ve been pestered by sporadic showers and strong wind gusts that have clearly impacted the frequency and duration of our rides. Despite the inconsistent weather patterns, we’ve still managed to...

    Knee Protection on the Trail

I remember that day in March clearly as the Coastline trail wasn’t well marked at the time. Conditions weren’t optimal either as the snow was deep and soft along some sections and none of us were riding fatties which could have helped tremendously with the terrain.

Like you, I did a bit of wrenching today to better enable me to face steeper climbs that I plan on tackling over the course of the season. I swapped out the stock 11/30t cassette for an 11/34t along with a new chain and will retain the 52/36 upfront for now. No issue with the RD accepting the...

I’m no bull-y but there’s no way I would have moosed with it if it was a male in its prime. Judging by its stubby antler buds, he was just a yearling and was behaving more typical of a curious child. Nevertheless they can be unpredictable animals so perhaps I should have known better. Being an...

SHOW us YOUR PIX here .... Odd, WeiRd ,UnUSuAl or EyE CaTchIng things from your rides

A young moose with its mottled coat wandered into the hood this evening looking for a snack. It was nibbling at a Cotoneaster shrub across the street and suffice it so say we thought that it was safely far enough from my wife’s garden. Five minutes later I glanced out the front window and...

A saw like that would come in handy for trees with less girth just to clear the trail for others who might come along. Lifting a bike over a few logs doesn’t pose much of an issue but it becomes tiring if the trail is constantly littered with deadfall. Holy carp is right. You may have well been...
