Deadfall comes with the territory, Stefan. Do you really think that a fallen tree(s) is reason enough to turn your back on riding singles? I don’t ride gravel but I applaud those who do because my mind is open to anything bike related. Besides, I have enough on my plate to keep me busy. I admit...

From today’s 20km ride on a couple of local singletracks. I rode the entire distance with the Magpeds. I absolutely love these innovative pedals which bridge the gap between flat and clipless and at no time did I ever feel locked in. 👍

How about just logs along the trail. This behemoth of a dead spruce was blocking the entire trail so I had no choice but to back up and ride around it... ..only to discover meters apart another humungous conifer with its boughs intact.

It’s exactly how you described it. If a fixed position is what you prefer then you have the option of ditching the spacer.

The pedals came with a plastic spacer and a metal plate. I suspect the spacer which is placed underneath helps elevate the steel plate to enhance engagement. For the Shimano 903 mtb shoes, the metal plate together with the spacer sits 2mm below the sole which is optimal. There is also an...

Magped Enduro 2 I installed these puppies on the Levo this afternoon and rode a few city blocks just to get accustomed to the fit. I even managed a few steepish hill climbs to test out the actual physical attachment utilizing full 360-degree rotation. So far, I like what I see and feel. In...

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Thanks D-Man. It’s just the break from routine that I needed. 👍 It doesn’t matter how far or how intense your ride is, what’s more important is that you get out and enjoy what you’re doing. Perhaps this style of riding may not be for everyone but that’s just how I roll. I’ll keep shredding as...

Canmore Nordic Center I have to admit that my heart skipped a beat when I heard we were going to ride this single but EKG said everything was normal. ;) EKG Loop (The Main Course) This is some exceptionally long footage but I hope that by watching it you can understand why. It was well...

There’s no doubt in my mind that Canmore, AB is a mountain biker’s paradise. With a vast network of trails ranging from beginner to extreme, riders can experience everything from mellow cruises to knee numbing climbs. If you’re more of an adrenaline junkie, one can always head over to the Nordic...

    A 27.2 mm Electronic Dropper Seat-Post. Ideas?

Sorry for the confusion. What I meant to say is that I don’t have the Reverb AXS as I didn’t feel like dropping $1K Cad down for a wireless dropper (pardon the pun). I’m sticking with the stock cost effective X-Fusion Manic for now which appears to be the same dropper on the Levo. A couple...

Yes, I don’t hate it but would love to explore other options. RockShox's Reverb AXS is nice and infinitely adjustable in height but so is its price. I was lucky enough to acquire the lightly used drivetrain at an insanely low price that I just had to get my hands on it before someone else did...

I took the Epic Evo out for its inaugural spin at Heritage Ranch considered to be one of the easier trails that I ride but does possess a couple of leg burning climbs. SRAM T-Type tranny together with wireless shifting is such a sweet upgrade. Shifting under full load while climbing is...

Out of the handful of Magped video reviews that I’ve watched so far, this one convinced me to spring for a set of Enduros as his opening statement is one that I feel I can relate to. The demo of him lifting his shoe on and off the pedal doesn’t appear to require a significant amount of torque to...

I hear ya. Getting out on the trails for me is a nice change up from riding tarmac which can become a bit monotonous day in and out. I get stoked just thinking about it. However, there are a few spots along the singles where I can, from time to time, stop for a breather, chill out among the...

    Specialized Turbo Levo

If I do spring for a set, I may opt for the lighter Magped Ultra 2s over the Enduros as they seem like they could work for my needs. Stamp 1s are what I currently ride on and are few grams lighter and 15mm wider than the U2s. Only caveat might be far fewer pins per side vs the Enduros. They are...

    Specialized Turbo Levo

I’ve heard that the Enduros are heavy but there are likely some alloy flats that are also on the hefty side such as the Diety TMacs. It might also take time to get the fit dialed in but it’s also nice to know that you can opt for one of either two different levels of force, 150N and 200N. They...

Oh Deere, I would like to think so. A bit of sarcasm on my part Stefan. The ones pulling loads tend to lead a train of anxious motorists behind them particularly on busy two lane roads. Tractors here are considered SMV (slow moving vehicles) and are often limited to 40 kph and most will have...

With the wind gusting at times over 50 kph yesterday, better judgement prevailed and I hit the trails instead though the winds didn’t prevent my better half from heading out for a 55K road ride. It’s always nice to have options. It never fails…. My favorite perch and riverside...

@decooney - Have you, or for that matter, anyone else here tried or considered Magpeds? Seems like they fall somewhere in between a traditional clipless and flat set up and the company offers a pedal for almost every discipline. Might be something to consider if, like me, you’re hesitant on...
