Impressive indeed. In contrast, think of all the bike graveyards in China as a result of the bike sharing boom and bust and how just a fraction of them could have helped families in need. On a deeper level, it’s the result of extreme consumerism and a waste of resources.

The Legacy Trail would likely be near the top of the list for anyone wishing to experience cycling safely in the Bow Valley Parkway. A piece of cake for someone like you but the scenery alone would be an excuse to do it. Another ride would be Hwy 1A from the TransCda Hwy Junction to Castle Mt...

(Part 2 – Banff Hills) From Mt Avenue, we would begin the short climb up to the Sulphur Mt. Hot Springs and Gondola. Relatively tame but still worthy of the views of Mt Rundle and the fact there was no marked shoulder made for an intriguing ride. Up at the top, it became even more...

The Four Three Hills of Banff (Part 1 of 2) Our ride on Monday in and around Banff National Park came to an abrupt end as we neared the final loop. Due to my own negligence of forgetting to charge my Di2, I was unable to complete the last leg of our ride up towards Lake Minnewanka. It would...

You’re right. It wasn’t my intention to single out the Jeep brand as being prone to rollovers. Heck, it could have been any other make or model on both of those occasions. I would say that historically the brand may not have the most stellar record in terms of reliability which likely has...

For sure. Jeeps aren't high on my list either but a friend who owns two including a powerful Trailhawk 4xe hybrid swears by them. Not sure exactly how it happened but thankful that we arrived at the time we did.

I agree. Winter certainly isn’t my favorite time of the year to ride but I do try and make the most of it.

EBR made me do it! (new Vado SL 5.0 EQ)

To add to Stefan’s remarks about Ergon GP2s, I installed a pair of small grips on my wife’s Trek FX 5 for a overseas cycling trip. They are not too obtrusive, provide a good amount of adjustability to tailor a rider’s ergonomic fit and are pleasing to the touch.

We came upon this single vehicle rollover on yesterday's ride shortly after it occurred. Hopefully, there were no serious injuries. This intersection is one we transit through every day so I’m just relieved that we weren’t there at the time.

Over the past few days, the ambient temperature has dropped significantly but it’s the winds that have ramped up. We still manage to get out for daily rides and find the blustery days have proven to be a great training tool. Today southerlies were gusting up to 30 kph but yesterday was even...

You’re definitely right about the lack of twisty roads here, Dave. Being stuck in the middle of the prairies we certainly aren’t going to experience anything with switchbacks or hair-raising turns. Dream rides such as the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia would be on my bucket list for sure. I had the...

Yesterday’s ride would take place less than an hour’s drive east of our city limits starting out from the little town of Mirror. From there, we would circumnavigate Buffalo Lake along Hwys 21, 53, 56 and 601. Not much to say about this quiet tiny hamlet other than it appears to be a peaceful...

We followed the graceful flight of this hawk for several hundred meters on this overcast morning likely on the hunt for voles or mice. Prey would be much easier to spot once crops are harvested.

We were passed by two of these tractors this morning hauling high capacity fully automatic hay balers (center) and accumulators (rear). Hay baling in the field couldn’t be any easier. With the machinery pulled from behind, the cut crops are fed into the Baler’s front auger where they are...
