    Bike To Bike Communication

Voice command isn't a problem if you turn off the intercom first before you say "Hello Sena". In my opinion, the voice command implementation is only marginally useful even if they work out the bugs. I don't think I would like the speakers on the strap, so I am happy to stick with the R1 Evo's...

    Bike To Bike Communication

You could try to contact Sena to see if they would replace your EVO helmets with the EVO CS. Maybe they will be willing to acknowledge a design flaw in the original EVO. We are just guessing here though that they have actually retired the original EVO.

    Bike To Bike Communication

As much as I wish that all the features worked as advertised, I am still happy with my R1 EVO helmets. The main reason I got them was for the intercom, and that works very well. Without trying them, I don't know if I would like the strap speakers as well as the built in speakers. But so far...

    Bike To Bike Communication

I wonder if the helmet strap speakers on the Sena R1 EVO CS eliminates this problem by preventing the microphone from picking up sound from the built in speakers. It appears to me that Sena has retired the R1 EVO with the built in speakers and replaced it with the R1 EVO CS with the speakers on...

    Bike To Bike Communication

With the Evo helmets, there is no pairing. When you initially set them up, you pick the channel you want to use (there are 9 channels). After that you just turn them on (unless you are communicating with multiple groups and need to switch channels). From what I can tell, using the buttons is the...

    Bike To Bike Communication

The Sena R1 Evos are pretty simple for entering intercom mode. You press 2 buttons to turn the helmet on. Then after it is booted up you press the center button to put it in intercom mode. That's it. The voice commands are pretty worthless IMO, but you don't really need them.

Why do you prefer a derailleur vs IGH (Internally Geared Hub)?

It is obvious that there are many different but valid opinions for likes/dislikes regarding IGH vs derailleur. In my case, the only way you will replace my IGH with a derailleur is to pry my cold dead hands off of the shifter on the handlebar. 😃 ;):p

    I can’t stand it anymore

Forums are based on casual discussion and therefore the language and spelling tend to be colloquial rather than literary or grammatically correct. That said, I find this forum to generally be better in that score than most of the other forums I participate in. I do regularly participate in a...

    Communication helmets?

So far I am liking my Sena R1 Evo helmets. We mostly use the mesh intercom feature which has pretty good range. We don't really use the music player or phone functions. Once in a while I will use the FM Radio feature while at a rest stop. It works OK. Sound quality for radio/music is about what...

    Step-Thru

For an old fart like me with hip and arthritis problems, the low step-thru of my Gazelle Arroyo is a godsend. I have had some gentle (good natured) teasing about riding a "girls bike", but I just smile and keep riding :)

    Boomer and balance

My wife (now 76) rode a Blix Aveny ebike for a couple of years and liked it a lot. But her balance was declining and the last year she rode the Aveny, she suffered several falls. She also had a fall down the steps at home, so we decided that continuing on the 2 wheel ebike was just too risky for...

Looking for a Commuter/Paved Trail Recommendation

It is not only topography. I have been surprised at how wind can affect the range on a battery charge. With topography, when you go up, you (usually) eventually go back down and gain back a portion of what you lost. A tail wind can really increase your range, while a direct head wind will kill...

Bosch Ebike Connect app needed improvements.

I bought the Nyon and thumb control pad on eBay. They used to show up there quite frequently, but it must be the supply of the Gen 1 Nyons has run out because they no longer seem to be available on eBay. Fortunately, I bought a spare when they were still available, in case my Nyon fails. I also...

Bosch Ebike Connect app needed improvements.

I love My 2017 Gazelle Arroyo with the Bosch Performance Line motor ... especially since I upgraded from the Intuvia to the Gen 1 Nyon display. That said, there are a couple of improvements I would like to see in the ebike connect smartphone app and browser portal. First, there should be a way...

    Broken Bosch Nyon Display Frame

I still keep looking for a (reasonably priced w/ shipping) replacement for the Nyon design mask. They are available in the Europe market, but they charge a ridiculous fee to ship this small lightweight piece to the US...very frustrating! I am sure the availability in the US would improve if...

What updated firmware version do your R1 Evo's have? Mine came with version 1.0, and the app says it is the current version. And there are definitely some bugs in it.

Gazelle Arroyo C8 (2018) rack fail

Yikes! This is certainly something for me to keep an eye on. I took a good look at my 2017 Arroyo (bought in 2018), and I don't see any obvious signs of failure (cracks, chipped paint, etc.). I can say I have never carried any cargo on the rear rack other than the battery. But it is supposedly...
