    TQ motor

This is great data! It’s very interesting to see how completely inaccurate the motor‘s estimate of rider power is. Very few people have power meters on their e-bikes. My specialized turbo creo was closer than what you’re showing here, but also over-reported when the motor was in use, while my...

Making use of Vado SL rider power data

it is, but it’s important to note that it’s averaging variation, and generally doing so non-linearly. it’s a good estimate of what you could have done for the same total effort if you were just riding completely steadily. you’ll probably notice that if you’re cruising along at 125w, and then...

Making use of Vado SL rider power data

having the rider power displayed on the bike also is a huge motivator to work harder - there's a lot of data supporting the fact that simply measuring performance improves it, especially when it's visible in real time. i leave "average power" on the display of whatever app or display i'm using...

Can I use a Mahle Smartbike Systems X20 e185 Range Extender with an X35 battery?

i don't think so. mahle says no, and it does not have the same connector.

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

now that i have two di2 bikes, it's actually happened to me twice! always a bummer only using the RD! (on a 2x bike, first the FD stops shifting, for maybe another 50 or so shifts, lol)

EBR made me do it! (new Vado SL 5.0 EQ)

it's just messy and time consuming. and as you have experienced virtually never necessary. but here is the process : remove the wheel from the bike. if your through axles have levers, no tools required, if not, you'll need the 6mm hex key, which any multitool has. remove the tire from the wheel...

EBR made me do it! (new Vado SL 5.0 EQ)

that's great, 1%/mile is my general observation on an OLED iPhone with a dark background cycling app. back when i was doing 80+ mile rides i would either turn it off for a bit while cruising, or stick a little battery in my pocket. i'd plug it in on the snack/hydration stop for those rides, and...

Making use of Vado SL rider power data

a topic near and dear to my heart! my interest in rider power started with my creo a few years back, and i began tracking it somewhat obsessively to understand exactly how much work my (genetically disadvantaged) heart was doing. heart rate is not a particularly reliable indicator of this, and...

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

what a gorgeous ride!!!! thank you for posting this. i've spent a fair bit of time in calgary (and edmonton) for work but never made it out to banff. kind of tempted to make an excuse to get our there and rent a bike. the scenery looks similar to the sierra nevada, but simultaneously more...

EBR made me do it! (new Vado SL 5.0 EQ)

a tire boot won’t work with tubeless. a gash that big, call an uber. very, very rare. one of the beauties of tubeless is that it takes literally 10 seconds or so to jam in a dynaplug, then maybe another 20 seconds to add some air. i like this one. i’ve used it thrice, i think. on my road tires...

EBR made me do it! (new Vado SL 5.0 EQ)

seems very inelegant to have three small bags on a lightweight bike used for moderate length rides. i bet everything you’re describing would fit in a larger frame bag. get a side exit bottle cage and no blockage of either boss location. capacity would be around 3x the current one, if necessary...

heh heh. my creo had one too, for a few minutes

EBR made me do it! (new Vado SL 5.0 EQ)

how about a custom wedge or half frame bag? way less drag than a burrito bag or other front bag, weight much closer to the center of the bike, etc. what are you trying to store? as many here know i’m quite a minimalist on the bike, over time having done unsupported centuries with a smaller bag...

Turbo Vado SL 4.0 Wheel Durability

should be covered by warranty unless you’re over the load limit etc. take it to your specialized LBS and they’ll get it sorted. they’ll likely just replace the whole wheel. if you don’t want to bother, the wheel is probably a DT swiss r500, but the 12x148 through axle version is not that easy...

Sudden loss of braking performance on rear brake - Vado SL 4.0

Once the pads (and rotors) are contaminated with chain lube or cleaner, it’s VERY hard to get them back to 100%. I put a ziploc bag around my rotors whenever i use drivetrain cleaner because it really doesn’t take much and we’re talking about rotating parts. If you really want to try, take the...

Specialized iPhone App Shows Wrong Elevation Gain.

No doubt this isn’t rocket science, but likely not as simple as you think. We don’t know, for example, if the bike even transmits that data over the Bluetooth link to the phone. We know it transmits power, cadence, lots of things, but they’re mostly based on semi-standard profiles for bikes and...

    CreoTCU mastermind locked out

hmmmm given that the pin is an anti-theft feature, your best options are 1) get the pin from the person you bought it from or 2) reach out to specialized rider care with your purchase receipt. i imagine a specialized retailer/service center has a way to reset this.

The Weight of Specialized Full-Power E-Bikes Listed As Dry Weight (Without Battery)?

seems to be a mixed bag, some are with battery, some are without. i wonder if there's any rhyme or reason to it... USA: Australia: switzerland: lebanon: many regions don't sell the bikes with big motors / removable batteries, so hard to find an example from asia, etc.

Turbo Creo 2 Comp E5 (aluminum) is out, is a Vado SL 2 next?

sweet!! looks like a fun ride. do you know how much it weighs? the bars appear to be tilted wayyyy down, which is usually a sign that there’s too much rise, not enough reach, or simliar. did a bike fitter set it up that way for you? or maybe it’s the photo?
