    Over50's Trek Allant 9.9s Chronicles

Nice. I wish a mount like this had been available. I prefer the double arms and center mount.

    Over50's Trek Allant 9.9s Chronicles

I paid for the light. Why would Trek cover that? It wasn't defective like the hub. Just underpowered but not defective. I don't see why the OEM or shop would cover a swap that isn't based on a defect.

    Over50's Trek Allant 9.9s Chronicles

I think they charged me some labor. What they gave me free labor on was the hub change and SRAM install. If I recall correctly. I left the stock taillight because for commuting I always supplement with a powerful taillight like the Rotlicht under the saddle and a Bontrager on my helmet...

    Over50's Trek Allant 9.9s Chronicles

I prefer the small, discreet display which offers a lot of feedback. And of course, as I mentioned, I didn't really want to use my phone as the main display for security reasons. This is my first few hours with the Kiox so I'm still trying to figure it out. I think, after a software update the...

    Over50's Trek Allant 9.9s Chronicles

Yes, I think the stock Kiox mount bolts on to the stem cap. But the stem on the 9.9s is a solid piece that doesn't have a center bolt. The Kiox stock mount is different than the Cobi mount. Honestly, I'm not sure why Bosch didn't offer an option to order the Kiox with a mount similar to the Cobi.

    Over50's Trek Allant 9.9s Chronicles

Well as I posted previously, I wasn't really a fan of having my phone front and center on the bar. Moreso for security reasons: in a commute scenario, where I'm riding alone, usually in the dark. I didn't want someone to mistake my lowly Samsung device for an I-phone leading to an armed phone...

They both Fit Racktime Racks (Which ONE is Best)

Yes, the bag in the video looks taller and wider than anything I've tried on my narrow rack. If I grab the top part of my bag (Talis in the picture above) and shake it back and forth the fabric part will move. But the base is firm in the mount and there is no rattling. If I shake the bike by...

Affirmative. Mine does not do that.

    Security

It uses CR2 lithium batteries. Mine is still going strong after 2 years (purchased lock in summer of 2018). Been left outside in cold weather frequently. I purchased Panasonic CR2 batteries as a replacement but haven't had to open the package yet.

They both Fit Racktime Racks (Which ONE is Best)

I have number 2 on a narrow Racktime rack. Not wobbly. I have the lock/key to prevent snatch and grab theft. No experience with number 1.

Nearly Hit by Driver Running a Red Light

I was almost flattened by a construction vehicle running a stop sign today. Residential 25 mph street. I had no stop sign. He had the stop sign. Cursing at me and flipping me off after he slammed on his brakes and as I was pointing at his stop sign. I've almost been hit by stop sign runners a...

Over50's Specialized Turbo Vado SL 5 EQ (& Como SL 5) Chronicles

I recently switched out my stock alloy handlebar for the Salsa Rustler carbon bar. I liked the geometry of the stock bar and the Rustler was close in geometry to the stock bar. The shop cut it down from 750 to 685 same as the stock bar. I've been tweaking lots of things trying to find the best...

Over 50's Charger GX HS Rohloff chronicles

Rings a bell! The couple of road rage incidents I have provoked were because I was trying to make a left turn and thereby occupying the lane on my bike. Both were in slow speed roadways (1 downtown and 1 residential 25 mph). At least where I live, something about someone on a bike occupying a...

Here is a milage stat for the vado sl

I have a number of presets I created in Mission Control for different types of riding. Some I copied from other Vado SL owners here. I created one for riding with my wife (she is really slow on her Tern Vektron) called "lunch with the wife". My Eco for this preset is 5%/15%. I have a "commute...

Car Rack advice for Specialized Como on a Subaru Forester

Is the receiver hitch dealer installed? If so, beware. Particularly any Thule product. I posted of this extensively here. Me, not knowing anything of hitches: I took my 2015 Forester to my Subaru dealer and had them install their hitch (1.25"). Their showroom display is littered with Thule...

Here is a milage stat for the vado sl

I use the TCD as the bike's display while riding. I track the ride w Mission Control but the phone stays in a bag. I'm not a fan of having my phone mounted on the bar thus I'm replacing the Cobi on my Trek for the Kiox. But having Mission Control for tuning the bike's assist levels and for...

Here is a milage stat for the vado sl

If you go to Mission Control and check ride stats it will tell you precisely your avg assist level and wh used. So you can be much more precise than saying "I rode in Eco" to "I averaged 29% assist". From there you can extrapolate mileage for a full 320 wh or 480 if using range extender.
