Unicorn search? Off-road fat step-through + internal hub?

I have 2 IGH bikes, one has a Rolhof with over 10,000 absolutely trouble free miles since 1998, and the other has a Nexus 8. I am considering getting a Swytchbike front wheel with motor to give me a nexus 8 with edrive. It would still come in in the low to mid 30lb range, and I think it would...

Unicorn search? Off-road fat step-through + internal hub?

Something you might consider is a good singlespeed belt drive bike, then add something like a Swytchbike Max ebike kit…with the motor on the front wheel. It would give you the torque to make the hills and be exceptionally quiet…

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

There is a term that used to float around biking circles years ago from Grant Peterson: retrogrouch. It discribes me perfectly, I wear shorts (just regular shorts, not cycling shorts) and a button up long sleeve shirt (preferably cotton) and bedrock sandals. And few things are more satisfying...

LeMond Dutch e-bike: battery range and tires

Just to throw my 2 cents worth into this conversation. Panaracer tires really are very good bicycle tire for road and gravel use. They have specific models for road and gravel. there is a small company in washington state usa….Rene Herse which sells tires branded Rene Herse. They are to my...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

With 320 watts mnufacturers rated power, its not legal here in Colombia so the discussion is moot for me. Besides, for $6KUS pluds taxes there are some other ebikes out there that would be a better match for me and what I do with an ebike.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I have had my Turbo Vado SL 4.0 for 6 months now. here are my thoughts: following Stefan’s example I have removed the fenders and the rear light. I have a couple of attachable rear LED lights. I have installed Ergon cork grips and they help with the numb hands that I suffer from on longer...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

OK Stefan, a question for you. I think I am going to do pretty much the same thing. how did you disconnect the taillight? Just snip the wire and tape over the end, or did you actually unplug it somewhere in the bottom bracket shell?

Made the move to a Turbo Vado SL 4.0

I had a Turbo Vado 4.0 which was stolen in November. It was my first ebike and it was a fine one. Specialized makes excellent bikes. But I never could get used to almost 70 pounds of bicycle. I spent a lifetime riding road and singlespeed bikes and always valued lightweight and simplicity. the...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Stefan, that should be an amazing climbing setup. Particularly in loose or slippery conditions. now that I have a few miles on my new Turbo Vado SL I am thinking that I would prefer lower gearing since I am not a fast rider either. perhaps I shall go from an 11-42 to an 11-46 cassette to start...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Picked up my new Turbo Vado SL 4.0 EQ from the Specialized flagship store in Medellin this morning and rode it home. I LOVE IT! Its a much better match for me and what I want and like than the Turbo Vado was. I love the 10 kg weight reduction, and the controls are much simpler…and I am a total...

New stuff on my Turbo Vado 4.0

Got my new Turbo Vado 4.0 SL today. As Stefen warned me, it has considerably less boost than the Turbo Vado. however it rides and handles much more like a conventional road bike, and I really enjoy riding it more than the Turbo Vado. its a better choice for me, and YES, I can make it up the...

New stuff on my Turbo Vado 4.0

Its a Black size Large…beggars can’t be choosy…I am pretty sure it was the only/last Turbo Vado SL in stock in Colombia. I would have preferred a 5.0 or the white/sage 4.0. But actually I am just ecstatic that I was able to get ANY Turbo Vado SL in Colombia. Its the first time in almost 2...
