Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I did not talk about frame or comfort. I meant riding like in chewing-gum, like riding against some rubber-band... ;-) Yes, that's the main reason on most bikes. My first ebike had a Nuvinci/Envilo N360 rear hub and an early Bosch and even there the resistance of the motor wasn't that terrible...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Is there anyone here who owns Vado SL AND Creo or has at least done quiet a few miles on both? I've ridden only a few miles on Vado SL on a test ride and even less on the Vado SL of my wife, that is to small for me. We have a new comment of a new Vado SL owner in our german ebike forum who...

Need opinions from Creo and Vado SL riders

Overall the availability of Specialized was still good or ok in these two years of Corona (at least here in Germany). Other brands are much worse. When I was looking for a MTB in September, many dealers told me for several brands "Come back in 2023...". Stefan, I know about your reasons for...

Need opinions from Creo and Vado SL riders

And this is important for Rider51 in the US or the reason for any price drop? Even in Europe the interest for derestricting an SL drive is low/much lower than for the usual standard motors, which are horrible to ride above 25km/h.

    Creo makeover

Jorge, with wheels, seat post and cassette you have already improved the parts where to get most benefit/weight loss. So don't make yourself crazy to much, you did the most important things already! Weight reduction is also useful on an ebike (or you end with an 27kg Bosch or something...

Looks really strange on the Website photos below...

    Creo SL carbon paint job

Which model and color name is this exactly? If it's no wet or with flash on your photos, this doesn't look normal. I've got just a "simple" colour (satin sage green), not a shimmering colour like the expensive versions. But I've seen some in real live, even if they can look strange on photos...

Need opinions from Creo and Vado SL riders

I remember, you had the Vado Sl also a whole day for testing. I think in this case I think same gravel/mild offroad is possible without leaving to many signs if it's dry. But it won't be much fun/would give you a wrong impression of the gravel capabilities with 28mm road tires.

Need opinions from Creo and Vado SL riders

Stefan a test ride of a bike that the shop still wants to sell as “new” usually excludes any offroad use. You should stay on asphalt. But I don’t see much need for it, you can use any (organic) gravel bike from a friend to test what is possible with a gravel bike. mschwett already explained the...

    New Specialized Como SL

Are you sure? "about" or "almost" is a little bit to rough when looking on weight. I don't know the normal Como personally an I don't found a source yet for the weight of the Como 3. But I found weigth for the higher Como 4 or 5 and these are around 24.5 kg. I guess the Como3 won't weigh less...

Same ride, 21 times, on my Creo

Same here (apart from loosing weight so far...)! As I use my Creo only for gravel, I started to follow well known (easy to medium difficult) MTB tracks in our region. Soon I encountered the limits of the Creo and bought a MTB extra (my first real MTB) three months ago. As I still want to ride...

    New Specialized Como SL

I also can't understand that a producer of light ebikes with such a fine and unique drive like the SL doesn't announce the great weight much more/more clearly. Many brands put a clear entry or average weight of each of their models to the model data, I don't see any disadvantage here. Or if so...

    New Specialized Como SL

I don't know where do you got 29.3 from, but as far as we are talking about lbs and not kg ;-) you can judge this yourself. 29 lbs is a usual Creo SL weight (1-2 lbs less with light&expensive road parts, 1-2 more for gravel use). Vado starts at about 32-33 lbs naked and about 36-37 lbs as EQ...

    Specialized Como 3 wheel failure

I agree with you as this is afaik a clear defect of the rim. I've seen several wheels like this in my life, which were treated normally and the replecament rim (same model) worked fine for a much longer time. I've also seen really "broken" wheels due to load, lightweight build or very rough...

    Specialized Como 3 wheel failure

I had exactly the same damage on the rear wheel of my Stromer speed ebike in the rear wheel after 15 month. Surely there damage was there some month and km before, but I noticed it for the first time after 14-15 months. We have quite strong laws for warranty here up to two years. But as I had...

Specialized Creo (all models) - Longest Rides/Biggest Climbs

With an ebike and especially a light one like the Creo the question is not "How much miles or feet are possible with the battery?" but "How much support can be used to reach a certain goal and is the resulting support still enough/noticable compared to a bike without motor?". As written before...

Creo SL Comp upgrade to Carbon wheelset

The rear wheel with 12x148 enters in several frames. But mostly MTb Frames, I doubt that tehres is a high intereset in narrow 20-622 wheels. The front wheel dimension 12x110 ist afaik apart form Creo and Vadlo Sl only used in some Focus bikes (Parallane?), so even less demand. As the R470 wheels...

    Regenerative Braking?

Well, if everyone want's to go on with this topic, I'm the last one to stop it... ;-) As I have gravel bike(s) and a XC HT MTB very similar to the Epic HT (ok, about 1000g heavier and $8000 cheaper...) I disagree. We have a local net of very nice MTB trips in our mountains, which you can...

    Regenerative Braking?

After three years of graveI bike (with and without motor) I now own about a month an MTB XC hardtail. I also joined before some MTB tours and was able to "make it" somehow. But I clearly now see the differences/where each of these bikes has it's advantages and disadvantages due to my own...

    Regenerative Braking?

Yes, it's a nice feature if it works and good to spare brakes, but it's not worth going crazy for it on an ebike. Johnny, I also know others who are satisfied with their Stromers at level 1 or even without motor support. Of course it is ridable and it's great that you can finish almost any...
