What happens when your Ebike you ordered on the Internet breaks?

That was uber getting out of the point to point rental ebike business and not being very interested in donating to charity vehicles that would compete with their gypsy cab business. https://www.engadget.com/uber-scraps-thousands-of-jump-bikes-193541447.html

Rad City 4 - front wheel noise

There's no electronics involved in the front wheel except for the signal cable that goes from the left brake lever to the controller, and that isn't really involved with the front wheel. Spin the front wheel with the bike powered off. If you still have noise, then it's mechanical. Also, if you...

What happens when your Ebike you ordered on the Internet breaks?

I would assume "bring it on down" means bring the wheel in, not the whole bike and expect them to be responsible for disconnecting and reconnecting the power cable.

Don't have any first hand familiarity with your model, but maybe there's a loose connector? Especially check the one at the front of the handlebars, where you have to twist both sides together.

Bolton specs their controller upgrade as compatible with 2020 model radrovers. If it works on 2020s, then I have to assume the 2019 stock controller also works on 2020s.

    Speed Governor

If I may help and add to the confusion: the stock 2019 radrover controller has *six* cables, the extra one being the one with the loopback plug to keep it clean. The sixth has the approximate shape of a USB A connector, but it is something else, looking at it theres's four contacts, likely a...

What happens when your Ebike you ordered on the Internet breaks?

Removing and remounting a rear wheel on a rear hub drive bike is non-trivial work and the details may vary from model to model. The shop's concern that they would get blamed for any connector or motor problems post-fix are legit. The first time I fixed a rear flat it took nearly two hours...

New RadMission from Rad Power Bikes

The problem is it is not near cheap enough to qualify as a stealer bike. (my prior road bike was such a stealer bike, and I pity the guy who stole it. Not really, hope he threw the chain while crossing the path of a tractor trailer.)

    New Rover “Limited Edition”

In car world that signals end of the model line. Look for a new spec radrover next year. I hope they invest a little in a controller with user-programmable lower power settings. And one that remembers its PAS and light and trip odometer settings between on cycles. Better a bike than a...

Help me cobble together my own Voltbike Bravo from China

Are you considering a geared hub motor or a direct drive hub motor? The geared hub will accelerate you faster and has more torque for hills, good if you're hitting a traffic light every few blocks, but has less top speed. The direct drive will have better top speed, but like you if I'm going...

Checklist to go through when browsing ebikes to estimate its likely real world range?

Not really, unless you mean a bike with throttle-only (no PAS). The range problem with throttles is that it is quite hard to apply a fixed amount of lower power: eg. a constant 250W on a bike capable of 750w, so you keep applying more power than you want. At least, that is my experience. There...

Don't take your hands off the handlebars of your ebike !

It lets you unhunch your crickety old back and stand up straight on the seat with your arms and shoulders relaxed dangling loosely at your sides. Nice to do from time to time in relatively safe straight line situations. But of course, I did not do it until I was confident my ebike was straight...

any folder or e scooter for really steep hills?

It's pretty clear from context the customer isn't into using his own legs nor spending middrive bucks. I live in SF, have ridden my stock radrover (same disparaged motor) up some non-trivial grades. The descent might be scarier than the climb. The rad mini at least has 180 mm rotors, but if the...

any folder or e scooter for really steep hills?

A geared hub motor is your best bet for most torque per watt, at the expense of top-end speed. The rad mini has that. There will also likely be other folders out there with a geared hub. Also... storing a bike on a boat? Is this on salt water?

Don't take your hands off the handlebars of your ebike !

Ok, I'll bite. No one outside of a medical pro donning PPE under supervision thinks that wearing a mask will protect the wearer. But in the herd, as it were, mutual mask wearing protects us from each other's mouth and nasal ejections and exhalations. If you're the only person in the room not...

Battery cut out at high loads

Battery cut out at high loads

In the spirit of "if I'm asking a stupid question, others have the same question but are afraid to speak up", what is C? I clicked the link, and while useful, the definition of C was not obvious.

    Stupid battery questions

For overall range, yes, it mostly works like that. But you can also draw higher numbers, for instance the stock controller will let you draw near 750w. Yes, but in my general impression (2900 miles) high wattage draws kill the battery more than the the same net power draw at lower wattages. For...

Battery cut out at high loads

I would assume the battery management system is cutting you off for excess amps, or it may have a temperature cutoff. Seriously, 2000w is a shitload to ask from that battery. I think the output fuse is 40 Amps, so a functioning BMS isn't going to let you do more than that. You might be better...
