Wow-Prices are down on E-Bikes on Specialized site!

I can use BLevo on my 2020 4.0 SL and dont' think I'd exchange it for mastermind either. My Tero 5.0 does have Mastermind and I don't miss Blevo Smart Control on it. Mostly because the higher available power means setting ECO at 20/60 support gives similar automatic transmission assist as...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Really depends on your use case. There was a lot of continuous rainy days here this year. While I don't intentionally ride in the rain, there were plenty of in between times where the roads are still very wet and puddles abound. The dry techs do a fantastic job keeping the wet splatter to a...

    New SL 1.2 motor revealed

But for an EMTB like the Levo SL - more power/torque is good. Off road - uneven surface, rock, ruts, 15-20% grades with poison oak on either side of the trail - more power gives more control. ] It will be interesting to see if they will offer the 1.2 motor on Class 3 bikes tho. At Class 3...

    New SL 1.2 motor revealed

Also youtube review at Sounds promising- besides higher power/torque/quieter supposedly more efficient. Still uses same batteries as the original SL.

    Buying/Configuring a Vado

One good thing about Specialized bikes is that you can customize assist levels thru the Mission Control app. So if ECO is too much assist with the default setting (I believe it is usually around 30-35%), you can reduce it to suit your needs. Newer bikes with Mastermind controls allow you to...

    Buying/Configuring a Vado

I have been riding both a 4.0 SL and a Tero 5.0. I would guess that if you are able to ride the hills on your unpowered recumbent, you would be fine with the SL. The relatively short sections of >15% shouldn't be a problem with the SL - especially in turbo mode I think you'd be good. The SL...

    Specialized Extender Battery on sale

I wouldn't be surprised and would hope next generation shows some significant improvements. However the SL versions are still relatively new (3-4 years?) so I think they will be around at least a couple more years. I wouldn't be surprised to find steeper discounts on unsold SL bikes and range...

    Specialized releases Turbo Tero X

I definitely want to take a look at one when it becomes available. Court did a nice video review on this site. Downside with the mullet is having to carry two different tubes for emergency - but (knocking on wood) I haven't had any issues since going tubeless. Looks like fenders are sized for...

    Range Extender and Smart Control

I suppose if you used duration you could ride for 5 hrs with smart control assist. If you can average 20 mph- that will get you to 100 miles. If you go faster, it will probably lower the amount of assist/battery drain as your speed increases.

    Range Extender and Smart Control

It is also possible that the distance is lower on US Class 3 SL since theoretically they could maintain a higher average assisted speed. I get limits of 80 miles distance or 5 hrs duration when I checked. Maybe for non Class 3 bikes Mission Control makes the adjustment to 100 miles - what is...

A quick overview of my Tero 5.0 and some basic mods...

There are two side view pictures in the Amazon listing. The first with the orange bag looks like there is a lot of clearance between top of the tire and the rack. Also if you zoom on the clamp it looks like the bottom of the support arm is flush with the clamp. The second picture with the...

A quick overview of my Tero 5.0 and some basic mods...

NIce write up. I am particularly interested in the rack for my Tero. It looks like the height of the rack could be adjusted somewhat if the 4 bolts securing the lower support arm allows the rack height to have some vertical adjustment. Your picture appears the rack is at maximum height - is...

    Tero update to Class 3

Since the upgrade was only a software change, I believe it would be possible for a knowledgeable and willing Spec dealer to revert the bike to Class 1. And even tho the email I received announcing the availability to change my Class 1 Tero to Class 3 indicted it was permanent, I tend to believe...

New motor or new Vado SL

has some cutaway views of the SL motor. Particularly @ 1 min doesn't look like there is a belt - just interconnected gears.

New motor or new Vado SL

My 2020 4.0 SL is about the same age and mileage. So far so good as far as the motor goes. I've been riding almost all the time with the range extender in parallel mode to theoretically help preserve the internal battery. At 137 recharge cycles my internal battery is at 94% health and at 180...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

The 42 were too tight a fit on the rear since the clearance to the fender bolt heads was very close. I kept the fenders on and switched to 38 mm and went tubeless. I also have a fenderless Tero (that can fit 2.35 in wide tires easily so clearance isn't an issue). Once I get the Tero updated...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I was able to remove a rounded bolt head by superglueing a sacrificial allen key (have plenty from furniture assembly kit). I think it is fairly common/easy for the smaller bike bolts to get rounded and there are a number of youtube videos with various methods for removing rounded bolts. In...

    Tero update to Class 3

Good to know. See this thread for info on someone who did swap chainrings. I think he eventually sold the bike but gives good info on class 3 enabled Tero. https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/what-equipment-for-a-tero-5.46948/page-4

    Tero update to Class 3

California. Pretty sure the offer would be only for US Teros.
