Yes, agreed. Well, lucky you having the choice ! Even though I started doing some longer rides last year, I couldn't quite give up the blast of riding the equivalent of the Quick-E. And some small improvements have made it more robust like the rear through axle. I haven't commuted on it yet as I...

So eventually I picked up a 2022 Giant Explore GTS 625 and rode it home. But something wasn't sitting right with me about it. Due to Covid and lack of stock, I hadn't had any opportunity to ride the Explore and the FastRoad EX back to back. But basically I remembered how I felt riding my old...

@gorse Aaah, I see. I did notice that scary to take your hands off the bars effect on my old Quick-E (same geometry as Fastroad E+ EX Pro). I must be a sucker for steep head angles and quick steering. I used to have a Suzuki TL1000S (aka The Widowmaker) motorbike which was famous for it without...

@gorse I'm curious about your comment about the reach. Can you be more specific. Should it be longer or shorter?

@BurnStar The 2022 Explore is up on the Giant website. As expected, it's the same as last year's model but with a 625 battery instead of 500. Price is now $5199 AUD. https://www.giant-bicycles.com/au/explore-eplus-1-gts-2022

I asked but they didn't know. And in fact they mentioned they wouldn't tell me anyway.

Well I did ring Giant Australia and they said that the Explore should start to be available from about Weeks 36-37. But given the way things are right now, that may end up getting pushed back.

In the end, I've decided on a Giant Explore E+1 GTS. Given that I don't commute anymore (WFH) but may ride into the City occasionally in the future, the added versatility of the Explore makes sense. I want to do more recreational rides (including quite a few hills and all day rides) and the...

Thanks Johnny. I definitely want a more Touring focussed bike with lights, mudguards, rack etc. I had a ride on the Explore and it rides very nicely - you're right, it does feel easier when riding with the motor off. However, my head likes it but my heart is pining for my old Quick-E so I'm...

Thanks for the condolences. The insurance company (Youi Contents with optional out of home cover) are prepared to replace it with a 2020 FastRoad E+ EX Pro, so I could probably persuade them to go with an 2021 Explore instead as it is cheaper and I could also argue that the 500W Battery in the...

Hi folks, unfortunately my Quick-E was stolen last Sunday from Highett Station in Melbourne. If you live in Melbourne, please keep an eye out for it. I normally lock it in a cage but my son borrowed it and was running late and the train was coming so locked it up at the station entrance using a...

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

On some longer rides I worked out that if the bike disconnects all you have to do is restart the app, then resume the ride and the reconnect prompt will appear.

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

Yeah I tried the little bike icon on the Android version and that used to work but doesn't any more.

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

So I have used the app (earlier version than 1.6.0) but found that it's now hard to resume a ride, if the bike turned itself off. Has anybody else experienced this? Otherwise it's working a lot better. The connection is more stable and the distance logged is actually quite accurate.

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

Sheesh ! I was going to say that ... "I put my RideControl back to the Android release from January 1.4.0. Also, switched off Auto Update of that app in the Play Store - seems like a good idea to do that generally ! Was prompted to do the 4.4 update but this time it worked" But sounds like...

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

I had the continuous loop issue yesterday just before a ride  Eventually I gave up and realised that if I disable Wifi and Cell just as I start the App, the app will work - however, it's not recording distance travelled. Remained stuck at 0 km and one ride had to be discarded. I'm going...

So I suppose mine isn't cracked, but it's good to check what options are available. Using your research as a guide I came across these:- https://www.pushys.com.au/dt-swiss-g540-27-5inch-650b-24mm-32h-disc-brake-gravel-rim.html

Funnily enough, it happened again. I'm seriously considering applying a little Super Glue to stop it falling out. After all, it's not required to take it off. Luckily when I ordered a replacement last time the LBS stocked a spare, so I just went down there and bought it. Also, has anybody...

Same thing happened to me. Everybody should check it's seated well as they have a habit of doing that.. Easy to order via local Giant dealer cost me about $20-$25 AUD and was easy to pop in

I don't have a SpeedBox any more but a BikeSpeed-RS. I updated my bike firmware twice now. Once was pre-Covid to the version with Power Bars. I found that immediately afterwards on a little test run the bike put up a spanner symbol but once I turned it off and on, it was fine again. I just...
