VADO 3.0 confusion between year old bike and new bike

The new 3.0 has a 1.2E or CB Brose motor, whereas the 2019 3.0 had the T (or, I think, 1.2) motor. The new 3.0 offers max 50nm torque, 420 peak watts output, the old one 72nm and 520 watts peak. I just had my 2019 Vado 2.0 (also with the more powerful motor) replaced with the 2020 3.0. There is...

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

Agree, the Tektro on my replacement 2020 3.0 seem terrific. Also, sounds like both Specialized and his LBS have done everything they could to satisfy and make things right for Perpixel. After my own experience, and from all I have read, I am convinced Specialized is just plain outstanding in the...

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

That does not sound great to me. I'd go for the Vado, or wait, or ask for a refund and get a different brand. I think they discussed something similar for my bike, and my LBS pushed back. But if you are okay with it, hope it all works out for you.

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

Very well explained. And although the idea that it may not void the warranty to go in there and apply Loctite or whatever, I'm sure not putting that to the test. Specialized did have my bike shipped back to them, and I can just imagine them turning down a claim if there was any sign of non...

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

The motor has three mounting bolts. If one is even slightly loose, the motor will crack the mount by torquing it back and forth, and pretty quickly. I agree with Uburoibob, if you pay attention early signs should warn prior to serious damage occurring. There should be zero creaking sounds...

    Vado 3.0 vs 4.0 (U.S. market)

So I made my choice. My LBS notified me they had a 2020 Turbo Vado 3.0 set for me to take, if that is what I wanted. Still torn between that and the 4.0, I went down to check it out. First, the owner let me test his own 2020 3.0, and I found that although it had not quite as much oomph for...

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

I'm not convinced that this is a widespread problem. With estimated annual sales of 685 million dollars, Specialized sells a lot of bikes, and I've only heard of a very small number of issues of this nature (granted, one of which is my bike). I will not be doing any Loctite for two reasons...

    Vado 3.0 vs 4.0 (U.S. market)

This is correct. The bigger one is 604 Wh, vs. yours which is probably 460 Wh. But the replacement list for $900 USD (ouch).

    Vado 3.0 vs 4.0 (U.S. market)

Good point. I weigh about the same. Also depends on steepness of hills. I found a few of those around here not exactly a breeze, even with the torquier motor of the Vado 2.0. Hope I can try the 3.0 before deciding.

    Vado 3.0 vs 4.0 (U.S. market)

Great information. Guess I will probably go for the 4.0, then. We have many hills, and some very steep ones. I think if I took the 3.0, I would constantly be regretting it.

    Vado 3.0 vs 4.0 (U.S. market)

I agree, but I would like to know / see exactly how much difference. There is no chance to test the 4.0 here, but I might be able to test the 3.0 and get a comparison from my 2019 2.0. Meanwhile, if anyone has actually test the two bikes, it would sure be great to hear what you think. Seems the...

    Vado 3.0 vs 4.0 (U.S. market)

I'm trying to decide between the 2020 3.0 vs 4.0 as well. My 2019 is being replaced by Specialized, and they will give me a 3.0 n/c, which I would gladly accept, but for the reduced power that I fear I may miss in our very hilly region. The 4.0 would cost me $1000 plus tax more. You are right...

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

Very big help. Thanks! Interesting that the max assistance is 320% for all of them, so I wonder exactly how the Nm plays into the game: that's quite a difference, 50 vs. 85Nm. Is that what is going to be noticeable on big hills? Anyway, thanks for all the input. I am hoping to try a 3.0, and...

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

Yes, they certainly do not highlight the reduced power of the motor on their selling page! The motor on the Vado 2020 3.0 goes under the name 1.2E and Brose C. If you Google Brose C, it is easier to find information, and confirm that it is less powerful-- the nominal output is identical, but the...

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

Thank you very much for your thoughts. I’d definitely go with the 3.0 no question about it, except the motors are not the same— it is less powerful: 50 Nm of torque, 420 peak watts, vs. 72 Nm of torque 520 peak watts. I fear I will miss that power on our hills. But maybe that difference is not...

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

So I've been offered a 2020 Vado 3.0 at no cost as a replacement for my 2019 2.0, which is nice, or I can choose a 4.0 and pay the difference ($1000 Canadian, plus $140 tax). The 4.0 seems to have better gears, brakes, lights, and, most significantly motor. My main concern is that the 3.0 is...

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

That's great! And the right thing for them to do. Stand up company, it seems. I'm still waiting to hear how they will resolve my 2019 Vado 2.0.

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

That's a distressing history. My 2019 Vado 2.0 cracked at 1600 kilometres. Probably going to pay some difference to get the 2020 Vado 4.0, since the 3.0 has a less powerful motor and I live in a very hilly area. You are shaking my remaining confidence in the design.

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

Wow, so this makes 4, across a range of bikes. Mine was sent back to Specialized and I am in negotiations through my LBS to resolve the issue. Unlike you, in the UK, so far my LBS and Specialized Canada have been excellent, based on the few other minor issues I had with my Vado 2.0. Hopeful I...

Be sure battery pack is seated

I road my Vado in heavy rain to the bike shop, 15K, with no fenders-- no issue. I am positive these are built to withstand rain, with or without fenders. If Specialized says you can not ride in rain, they would not sell any bikes, at all (not to mention fender sales!).
