    Ebikes….Cheating?

It is disappointing that so many people worry about some "e-bike police" that are monitoring the bikes used on bike paths and isssuing citations. So easily intimidated by the powers that might be. In the USA the only regs apply to bike paths and all I have seen thus far are speed limits in...

Moving Throttle to left hand - any reason not to?

With a bicycle the primary brake is the rear brake and this is controlled by the stronger (on most people) right hand. This is to avoid locking the front wheel and sending the rider over the handlebars. The rear shifter or derailleur on regular road bikes is on the right side and so e-bikes that...

Griz Attacks and Kills Bicyclist in Montana

The campgrounds at Glacier NP where there have been problems are the result of ignorant NP personnel who stupidly put the campgrounds along existing bear trails. The bears go to higher ground to sleep in safety and then travel down established routes to where they feed. But no managers in a...

How are you guys lifting your ebikes over your truck tailgate pad?

Look at all the solutions for motorcycles, including dirt bikes, as it is not necessary to reinvent the wheel. The ramps I have bought for my e-bikes are ones made for use with motorcycles. A problem with most pickups is that the tailgate requires moving any item 18-24 inches to get into the...

Class 3 Bikes: What Do Manufacturers Know That We Don't Know?

The federal government does not restrict e-bikes at all on roads or in parks or national forests and the states have not done so either. There may be a speed limit for bicycles (all types) but that is quite different. Cars and trucks are sold that can be driven faster than the highest speed...

    General Creo questions

Trek Domaine weighs 10 lbs more than the Creo so a lot of the motor and battery is being used to move the much heavier bike around. I looked at the Domaine but decided to go with the much lighter Creo SL Carbon bike instead.

Class 1 alternative to Vado SL?

No cop is sitting out at bike paths and stopping bicyclists to see if they are riding a Class 3 type bike. Worrying about it is plain silly. That said, REI has just started to sell some very nice Class I bikes for $1999. With REI there is usually a store nearby for service and my own experience...

Who is transporting their ebikes standing up inside a truck bed under topper?

I have been transporting road bikes in the bed of a pickup for the past 50+ years. I put a heavy rubber bed mat and lay the bike on top on its side. With a second bike I use a large piece of heavy grade 4-ply cardboard (shipping boxes for bikes and appliances and large screen televisions work...

    E bike platform Hitch hauler.

The use of a anti-rattle clamp on the receiver makes a great deal of difference in rack movement. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013J6O5H0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Bike weight is another key factor as the load on the rack and the receiver is considerably greater for...

    Grounded!

I tore a rotator cuff while removing limbs from the oaks on my property. It reduced how high I could raise my arm without a great deal of pain. I was fortunate to find a physical therapist who had worked for the SF Giants ball club and attended to the pitchers. He did a 3x per week stretching of...

No longer using the Creo for road riding

I bought the Creo Carbon but also have my Trek non motorized carbon frame bike as well. The Creo can accommodate fatter tires and provides a bit of boost when fighting headwinds which are very common in my area. The Creo weighs 25.8 lbs as compared to 17.2 lbs for the Trek road bike which is a...

    E Bike rack Reccomendation

It is not just whether the bike rack can support the weight but how well they work with carbon frame bike or with fat and medium width tires. Also the question of what is actually available to purchase at this time. Most e-bike heavy duty racks have been on back order for many months.

Como Tire - what options for a tire narrower than the stock tire?

Specialized put 24mm wide tires on its triathlon bikes and 30mm on its gravel bikes, so a 28mm wide tire on the Creo is on the wide side for a road bike. The Creo SL bikes do require a more fit rider but they are still very heavy at 28 to 30 lbs for road bikes, and 15 lbs heavier than a...

Importance of buying from a local bike shop

I evidently need to clarify my post. The service was less than stellar and if they would bother to use a simple checklist items like tires would have been inflated and the bluetooth pairing code verified. I wanted a Specialized e-bike and the nearest dealer of theirs is an hour away by car on a...

Repair stand for carbon fiber e-bike?

I can replace the CF seat post with a metal one before working on the bike but this is only a partial solution as my Park Tool PCS 9.2 stand is not going to support the weight of my Specialize Creo unless half the weight is supported by the floor. I did finally locate Silca's Hirobel carbon...

Repair stand for carbon fiber e-bike?

I have found the YC-200BH bike repair stand which is out of stock in the USA and the Feedback Sports Sprint bike repair stand which is pricy at $340 but is available to buy. I have been using a Park Tool stand with the clamp for the top tube or seat post of a non carbon fiber frame but with...

Bike Insurance? ebikes not covered under homeowners/renters, & >750W not covered by bike insurance

I can cut through any chain or cable or shackle in less than 2 minutes with my 18v cordless grinder with a 4" cut-off wheel attached. Doubtless the thieves know this as well. It comes down to having bikes completely out of sight of thieves. At the University of Davis in California in the...

    Converting to Electronic Shifting

The best treatment for arthritis in the hands is the application of DMSO directly to the skin. DMSO's properties were first discovered by Dr. Jacobs and the University of Oregon when he observed that some of the factory paper mill workers were arthritis free and it was the ones exposed to DMSO...

troubleshooting battery charging w new wall charger in 25-30% of the time required prior

A shorter recharge time is usually indicative of a failing battery. If a 10 Ah battery is failing and only holds a 5 Ah charge it is going to recharge in much less time. Your initial problem may have been with the battery and not the charger.
