I am a huge fan of the newest firmware. The power level just adjusts the wind at your back so to speak. Maintaining any specific speed is not an issue for me. I look at it as adjusting how much of a workout you are getting to maintain that speed.

Yes, that charge fuse should be accessible from the outside. Also, if you ride in wet conditions, you may do well to get the Lunacycle battery bag. Even sealed, the ports and switch will leak.

I did indeed use the water cage bosses on the down tube. They were exactly where they needed to be. Rode another 50 miles. LOVE this thing!

I'm about to build (convert a 20 year old hybrid that I have had since new) a mid drive bafang 750 watt bbs02. Instead of a throttle, I am going to put a push button for max power, as I find that's all I ever used the throttle for, mostly just launching.
