    Not buying Specialized ebikes again.

Straight cut gears are stronger, more efficient, and cheaper to make than helical. Helical are used only to reduce noise. Nobody cares how much noise a car transmission makes in reverse. Plus that slide together thing, I guess.

My New Globe Haul ST (2 weeks Old now)

I don't know anything about the Haul, but my brother in law had the battery of his Levo fall out on the trail once. Duct tape and zip-ties got us back to the trailhead.

    Vado 4.0 Sale Price

I bought two Vado 4.0s in 2023 at the full $4k price, about 6 weeks before they started dropping the price. Now I know how Tesla model Y buyers feel

    Pinion Motor.Gearbox.Unit (MGU)

Yes, it's expensive at 10k euros but you can easily spend more than that on a high-end acoustic mtb.

    Pinion Motor.Gearbox.Unit (MGU)

Very cool. A bit noisy for my tastes, though. I hope they can iron that out in time.

    Vado battery swap

I have two Vados with the 710 Wh battery. Can I swap the batteries between them without issue, or are they somehow "coded" to their respective motors?

    Vado 4.0 or Tero X 5.0

Based on the description of your use cases, I'd recommend the Vado. It has fenders, a very capable rack, and lights. I believe full suspension is overkill for rail trails, greenways, and mild dirt trails. It also adds weight and complexity. Ignore the looks - you can't see those from the saddle!

    Pinion Motor.Gearbox.Unit (MGU)

Agree 100%. All the arguments citing the complexity are just not persuasive. This stuff is nothing compared to any modern hybrid car.

Tero X Fender Trim to Use on 1UP Hitch Rack

I use a 1up rack to carry 27.5 mtbs, 29er mtbs, and Turbo Vados on a rotating basis. My solution to the fender problem is to put a piece of closed cell pipe insulation on the spindles and just clamp the rack down on the fenders. The fenders are quite stout and don't complain about this...

    48t 104bcd chainring for Vado

I stand corrected. The stock Praxis ring is indeed aluminum. Carry on.

    48t 104bcd chainring for Vado

This is a bit frustrating. It seems the stock Praxis ring is a proprietary part made for Specialized as it does not appear on the Praxis website. As others have noted, compatible aluminum rings are available, but who really wants a ring that will probably last only a fraction as long as the...

My 2022 Turbo Vado 4 Review.

I recently bought two Vado 4.0s for the wife and me. One came with spacers between the front fender stays and the fork and the other one didn't. Tire clearance is OK on both so I didn't mess with it. I suspect that all the bikes come with the spacers. It's just up to who assembles the bike as...

    Speed vs battery life

Power required to overcome wind resistance is proportional to the cube of velocity. Double your speed, and power increases 8 times.

    Future of EBike parts availability

This is a great topic that I have been wondering about for some time. My hope is that the aftermarket will eventually fill the voids left by manufacturers abandoning older product lines.
