Bafang mid-drive and pedal creek and beer

So that frikkin creak came back again. I took the motor out and the shim was still fine, I was having a fit trying to figure out wtf it was so I had a beer. I had the bike on my workbench and had my grown nephew for a helper. Scuse me for a sec, I had to have a sip, bourbon and coke today...

Newb, debating ebike options for hills, trails

A hub drive conversion is really easy, you can do that yourself. A mid drive is more complicated and you will need some special tools (like a crank puller) that are affordable. But an average Joe can do it in a few hours. Lots of vids out there on both which makes it easy.

Newb, debating ebike options for hills, trails

I have a Specialized Crosstrail which is a lot like the OPs bike. I did the Bafang mid drive conversion myself. The bike now weighs 58 pounds including battery (12.5 pounds) and rack. These kits with all the goodies are about $1600 including the big battery. I can do about 36 mph and my longest...

My bike goes too fast for me to have pedal input. Can I change this?

So I'm intrigued about the reprogramming. Is there a thread you can point me to? And how much does it cost? If you are going to ream me for being a social media idgit then please do me the courtesy of a reach around.

My bike goes too fast for me to have pedal input. Can I change this?

I found this thread on another forum. https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=104402 It seems like there are 2 versions of this display. The eco/sport one only works with the Ultra motor. Does the OP have an Ultra?

My bike goes too fast for me to have pedal input. Can I change this?

I have a similar set up but with a the DPC-18 display. I'm not sure which one the OP has. I can walk him through the settings if he has this one. It only takes about 20 seconds. https://bafangusadirect.com/collections/parts/products/bafang-dpc-18-lcd-display I can set it for 3, 5 or 9 PAS, no...

    DIY ebike build

I converted my Specialized Crosstrail. These bikes are a crossover trail/street bike with skinnier tires and lighter weight than a MTB. I rode trails all the time before electrification but now I get really tired of the massive cleanup if it's muddy out so mainly street now unless it's pretty...

Bafang mid-drive and pedal creek and beer

And you have the gall to accuse my precious aluminum shims of galling?

Bafang mid-drive and pedal creek and beer

Spoiler alert, it ain't the pedals. I kept getting that creaking sound down there since converting my Specialized Crosstrail bike. I removed the motor a few times and checked for dirt and put it back in but the creaking would come back. So, yesterday I'm removing the motor again and figured out...

US National Park Service Announces Policy for Electric Bicycle Use in National Parks

There are 2 places in Rainier National Park that you can ride. Both are/were roads that have been closed due to forces of nature. I rode the Westside Road on my non-electric bike. It starts near the southwest entry. It was paved but was closed due to landslides. It's pretty cool, I saw hikers...

You can buy wattage stickers on eBay, just put one on your motor and the problem is solved.

54.1 miles on is my longest ride so far

2 days later and went for it. 74.8 miles but the battery died on the steep hills 1/2 mile from the house. So now I know the limit and that's a good thing. My ass is hurting.

    Range experience?

Today being Sunday I fiqured I'd try a special long distance flat ride. It is mostly flat with some mild to light moderate hills. I did 74.8 miles and the battery died on the super steep hills near my house. The last mile is a bitch and really sucks the life force out of the battery. I have the...

    Beware BafangUSADirect

I thought eBike Essentials was a Bafang arm when I ordered but found out later that they weren't. I'm not saying that you should buy from them or you shouldn't. But these were the facts regarding my purchase: 1. They say they stock all the parts in the US. Mine were shipped from LA with tracking...

63.0 miles today. I'm tired, my ass is sore. Drinking Makers now.

    Range experience?

I just rode 63.0 miles today. I have a specialized Crosstrail with the Bafang 52V mid-drive and the big Whale Shark battery. I usually keep it in PAS 3 (out of 9) and am always pedaling. My battery display was showing red when I got home so that's just about it. I live at the top of a super...

    Beware BafangUSADirect

I might have the same charger but my bike is 52 volt. I purchased it from them and mine works and it turns off. Does yours turn off at full charge? I know I'll ruffle some feathers but some times you want the full charge unless you want to go 20% less distance. I did 63.0 miles today and I'm...
