Can I use Mission Control to control battery usage to make sure I will be able to finish my ride?

ROJA, as I said elsewhere, I have tended to just "estimate" my distance based on experience. I would suggest a different approach. I know that if I were planning a 44 mi ride with my base Turbo, I would start at Eco50, use full Turbo for steep hills, and then switch back to Eco50 anywhere else...

    How to interpret power numbers

On the Turbo, the relationship between Eco50 (or any other Eco level) and full Turbo is proportional wrt. distance. If I can go 70+ miles at Eco50, I probably can go 35+ miles at full Turbo. I have not been able to calibrate this to motor power (200W in my case) and battery capacity (691Wh)...

    Longest Single Ride Yet!

When you go under 20%, you are locked out of Turbo but can be in any Eco level from 10% to 70%. So this is not full cripple, just conservation. Full cripple happens when you get below 5% (or 2%?). Then assist stops and only the lights work.

    Used Ebike - Specialized Turbo X 2015

Couple of things... 1. Brakes work ok. They just tend to squeak. The 2016 Turbo X had Shimano brakes which were better. 2. The 2015 Turbo X had a 200w motor same as base Turbo. The 2016 Turbo X had a 250w motor same as older Turbo S. Only the 2015 and later Turbo S had a 500w motor.

Known Issues & Problems with Specialized Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

The design of the handlebar "Clean Cockpit" control is indeed design flaw. Other than the metal case surrounding the electronics, the same part is used on the base Turbo, 2015 Turbo X, 2016 Turbo X, and both early (SRAM) and later (Shimano) Turbo S. The case is different depending on whether the...

    Where is the restriction?

Essentially the answer is no. the wheel diameter hack used on the Levo doesn't do much except make the speedo/odo inaccurate. You feel the "speed cutoff" on the Turbo family more than some other e-bikes due to the direct drive. The resistance created by the permanent magnets when no boost is...

    The new turbo Vado 2017

If what your dealer meant is that Specialized will change their design to upgrade to a new motor system every 3 or so years, then there is an element of truth. The original Turbo was released in late 2012 with a 250W hub motor. Upgrades were introduced in 2015 with the 200W base Turbo and the...

    Update for Turbo?

Some time ago, I went to the GoSwissDrive web page. Their data indicated that the 200W motor had a 42 kmh (26.2 mph) cutoff, whereas the 250W and 500W motors has a 45 kmh cutoff. It is possible to nudge 45 kmh (28 mph) by playing with wheel diameter in the diagnostics, but to no great benefit...

    Turbo Levo Tuning

I don't think the speed limit is in the wheel, but in the battery firmware since that is where it gets set by diagnostics (setting 25 km/h vs. 45 km/h). I have a Turbo S battery in my base Turbo and found a bit of difference by setting the wheel diameter smaller at the 2000 mm limit. But it is...

    Turbo Levo Tuning

Using the diagnostics or Mission Control, you can adjust the wheel size only down to 2000 mm from the actual of around 2200 mm on a Turbo S using its 700x45c tires. (Note the Specialized Nimbus tires on the Turbo S are a bit larger than the Specialized Electrak on the base Turbo). This might buy...

1700 miles on 2015 base Turbo (modified)

Nothing specific. Given the controller bugs reported so far on Vado 3.0 and 4.0, and the fact that Mission Control integration is yet to be seen, I am pessimistic.

I wrote a bug report. I have gotten no response. No fix to my knowledge.

    Where is the restriction?

In the battery. It can be changed, but it is illegal to do so in the UK.

1700 miles on 2015 base Turbo (modified)

I haven't posted in quite some time and thought I'd share some summary experiences. I turned 1700 miles on a ride today. This is 250 miles in late 2015, 1050 miles in 2016, and 400 miles so far in 2017. My riding is all recreational on rolling country roads and the Nashua River Rail Trail in MA...

New Version of Mission Control for non-Vado - V1.1.2

Since I have a Garmin Edge 1000, I don't use Mission Control for navigation. I use the diagnostic tools and the basic configuration for wheel size, emtric/imperial, and for setting default ECO level.

New Version of Mission Control for non-Vado - V1.1.2

A new version of the current (non-Vado) Mission Control App appeared on the Android Google Play store. I already found a bug in that it appears not to retain the metric/Imperial setting in the app. New in 1.1.2: - automatic ride recording - ride export - diagnostic report - more languages -...

    Turbo Vado 3.0 - Confirmed 28mph

There is a big difference in gearing between the Vado 3.0 and Vado 5.0/6.0. The Vado 3.0 has a 40T chain ring while the Vado 5.0/6.0 have the same 48T that all of the previous generation Turbos did. They all have an 11T small sprocket on the rear 10 or 11 speed clusters. The cadence needed to...

Help with decision to buy 2016 Turbo!

Steve, I am 66 yrs old, ride a 2016 base Turbo with the upgraded 691Wh Turbo S battery and I weigh between 235-240 lbs. With our Turbos, we have a 200W motor that provides assist to 42kph (26.2 mph) rather than 45kph (28 mph). While I regularly hit speeds above 30 mph on descents, I usually...
