Less Than Ideal Temperatures for Optimal Battery Performance

Charging indoors, and fabbing a neoprene sleeve for the battery should help...an ace bandage overwrap might also keep an insulating sleeve in place.

commuting jacket "armor" type stuff? road rash protection?

There are many bike fairings, and they do wonders in reducing wind resistance.

Recharging during the day on tour

Limit? I'm for expanding ebike capability! We're too early in this new technology...standardization, interchangeability are years away.

    Bike discussion for ME's

I was a senior strategic buyer for Motorola and was amazed at the operating design parameters for anything automotive. The bicycle will outlast the automobile.

    Tools/equipment rad commuters carry

My AAA card, and the tools that came with the bike, plus air pump and patch. A cell phone, to call AAA. Better hex t-handle tools are in the garage, but min. for the road.

The community is rad enthusiatic( pun intended), and exploring a new transportation option, mostly with huge grins as we ride!

Recharging during the day on tour

You plan your tours...one of the best motorbike mags (and least read, with no naked girls) proposed CLOVERLEAF tours...you get to an area, and loop in various directions on different days. I'm on the Niagara Frontier, but have maxiscootered the amazing Blue Ridge Parkway. I'd try it on my Rad City.

    Newly joined from OC

Welcome, and read, read, read...it took me over 40 hours to choose a bike, based mostly on successful problem outcomes.

Ultra newb looking for first ebike

The Rad City, which I'm modding for road only use, was a good road rider out of the box, due mainly to it's adjustable stem, a vastly overlooked piece of gear that is mostly shown in a verrrry upright position(?). Guess what! it also adjusts the other way, to a semi-laid out road position...

Great news! Thought us old farts ran the show, which isn't good for a healthy movement.

How to measure battery voltage with a good meter

My riding battery I keep at 80%, and only top off right before a ride, about two hours. Coming back with, say, 50%, I throw in three hours, which will get it to the 80%. By the bye, I've seen a suggestion of using a USB fan (hooked thru the port) to get a battery DOWN, which makes good sense...

How to measure battery voltage with a good meter

So with battery at 48.9v., two hours timed charging @2a. gives me 52.7v., or 87%. One concern for winter storage...will have to check monthly to see if % of charge holds or degrades.

Loud Bicycle Horn (Car Horn for Bicycles)

I'm leery of dependence on signalling devices...horns, directionals, lights, because we tend to think that's all we have to do to get the oft distracted attention of those piloting tonnage next to us. Best to ride as if we're not as visible as we think we are. @Thomas Jaszewski , I guarantee...

    e-bike hatred.. I've found it

I ride roads only so the speed of my bike is irrevalent. You don't hate bikes, you hate the ingrained culture that dictates that their way is right and you have no right to change things. Without discussing religion or politics, you can see the similatities. Do Your Thing, respectfully.

Ultra newb looking for first ebike

You don't want the bike to do all the work, just assist. A few gears will make things easier, and, as any biker can tell you, there's no such thing as a flat road...even if there were, a bit of wind will make the trip home different from the trip out. It's really the combination of the right...

commuting jacket "armor" type stuff? road rash protection?

Having lots of scooter/motorcycle clothing around...a great idea. However, the calorie expenditure on a bike is so much greater that even a light jacket with many vents will still feel overwarm, I'm thinking. Try and report... A further thought...hot weather motorbike gear is made with mesh. As...

Recharging during the day on tour

Here's a thought...I have a spare battery, and will of course be bringing it along for longer tours. How about a cross route, leaving off the low battery (used to get from home to the cross) and charger...using the second battery for the loop (about the same usage/distance), coming back to the...
