Ever take your Vado off road?

I have a 2022 Turbo Vado 4.0. I installed a Maxxis Minion DHF Maxx Terra EXO (it's a mouthful) 27.4 x 2.3 for my front tire, and a Maxxis Aggressor 27.5 x 2.3 EXO on the rear tire. It was hard getting the OE tires off, the bead refused to release but after some hot water and much pressure from...

Looking for pic of 22 Vado 4.0 or 5.0 with no fenders or rack

Awesome looking bike and it's faster than a Tero. Haha. I also thought about removing my fenders and racks in order to give it a "butch off-road look" but I guess I like them too much. The fenders are functional and do keep rocks and dirt from hitting me in the face. Your Vado in black sans...

    Motor Error

Update on my new April 2022 Turbo Vado 4.0 Motor Error. Per advice from forum members, I cleaned the contacts with 90% alcohol and cotton swabs. I then lightly coated the battery contacts with Deoxit D5. Interestingly, when I first removed the battery to clean and treat, it dropped out without...

    Motor Error

"Motor Error" appears on my Turbo Display Unit on my one month old 2022 Turbo Vado 4.0. "Rebooting" by turning the power on and off seems to bring the motor back to life. Has happened twice on two different rides, luckily not in the middle of traffic, but once while climbing a steep hill. Had...

Abus Granit Xplus 540 U-lock experiences?

I have both the Extreme and Granite X -Plus for my Ebikes. Here's another review which shows the Granite X Plus U lock as having one of the longer angle grinder resistant times. It seems as of 2022 the only angle grinder "resistant" lock is the $300+ Hip Lock D-1000 which is currently on back...

New Vado 5.0 IGH in stock? My LBS's say go for it, they can't get 'em

Thanks Nubnub. When I ordered my bike, one of the two choices was "Specialized Delivery" which is a version of their "white glove" service. The rep delivers the bike driving a fancy Mercedes service van with Specialized logos painted on it, provides an orientation, registers the bike, shows you...

New Vado 5.0 IGH in stock? My LBS's say go for it, they can't get 'em

Ordered the 2022 Turbo Vado 4.0 from the the Specialized website. This was March 27th. All the while the Specialized rep kept me up-to-date with the order status on an almost daily basis. Surprisingly, this past Sunday, April 3rd, I received a text asking me to pick a date this week for delivery...

    Recommendations Hitch Bike Rack

Have had the Thule Easyfold XT2 for about 2 years now. Now issues. Transports my Specialized Turbo Vado and Turbo Como effortlessly. The ramp is a tad bit flimsy, but definitely usable as long as you are patient and remember to use the walk mode. 4 inch tires could be challenging, but again use...

New Vado 5.0 IGH in stock? My LBS's say go for it, they can't get 'em

Exactly. I just ordered a Vado 4.0 via the portal. “Specialized Bay Area Flex” was the only “shop” on the drop down. “SBAF” will be delivering the bike and supposedly will provide a point of delivery orientation, fitting, training and ride just to iron out any kinks. The issue is there is no...

Baramind suspension handlebar - softening the ride

Attached the Baramind Trek to my wife's Turbo Como. She loves it. It was very effective on our latest light off road ride. Stutter bumps which used to slow her down were a non issue and she mostly flew through trail dips and crevices that used to give her problems. She also climbed more...

    Need help choosing.

Same. I've had the Vado 3.0 with the 1.2e for a year now. Not too many LBS folks know the difference between the 1.2 and 1.2e. Heck even You Tube videos are all over the map on what versions are in each Vado. Yes, having the Xtra torque would have been nice. I live in the SF Bay Area so plenty...

Anyone take their Turbo Como Off-road?

Hi Stefan. My wife was slipping and falling on loose pack and gravel so I went with the arguably stickiest knobbies I could find. Doesn't seem to hurt the Como too much on pavement in terms of speed, my wife said the increase in her handling confidence on slippery gravel, roots and other...

Anyone take their Turbo Como Off-road?

My wife and I have the Como and Vado. We have ridden off road trails, mostly hard pack, gravel, some roots, sand, “stutter” bumps, ruts, and dust. No dramatic drop offs or big air for us. So far the rides have not affected the performance of the bikes. After, I wipe off the bike frame and clean...

    Turbo Vado 4.0 Pedals

Good point. I did try my other SPD cleats on my older bike shoes and they did clip in with a much more authority. I suppose the SH56 are really for relatively new riders just getting into SPD's. I think I will continue to use the SH56s for now until I become more at ease about clipping in and...

    2020 Turbo Vado 3.0: Four-Month Update

Great comments. One summer, "back in the day", our California born and raised MTB group/club hung out with 2 Dutch mountain bikers who were like us, students at UC Berkeley. Young and cocky we thought we would show these two European upstarts how we mountain bike in Northern California. Our...

    Turbo Vado 4.0 Pedals

My Shimano EH-500 clipless pedals arrived early. Installed them on my Turbo Vado with my trusty Park Tools pedal wrench, greased the pedal threads in order to avoid seizing while torquing down the pedals. I ended up using the provided Shimano SH56 SPD cleats since the sticker warned me to use...

    Turbo Vado 4.0 Pedals

I've used the Shimano SPD system for a long time now and it has always been very reliable and easy to disengage. You can adjust for "float" so you can compensate for your pedaling motion relative where you heel preference is. I have an order in for the EH-500 too for my 3 week old Vado 3.0.

Question: Do Vado's Include the Turbo Connect Display (TCD)

Thanks. Took a look under the display and you are absolutely spot on, totally hard wired and no contact points like the BLOKs display. Guess I should also refrain from taking the display off. Take care.

Question: Do Vado's Include the Turbo Connect Display (TCD)

Does anyone know if the Turbo Vado becomes "disabled" when the TCD is taken off the mount / contact points? I was wondering if in addition to locking up the bike with good locks and chains dismounting the TCD would provide additional security. I guess you would just let the display hang off to...
