Using Ebikes As Tools For Meeting a Health Challenge

Richard, I haven't been here for a while so I was unaware of your unfortunate circumstances. I am very sorry to hear what you've had to go through. At the same time you are amazing in how you react to adversity and how you fight through these things. I admire your perseverance to get through...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I know this post was months ago but just noticed it. You say 134% of combined batteries consumed. Does that mean you had a stop and recharged the batteries?

Specialized Turbo Creo 28mph Electric Road Bike

I keep my bike in my unheated garage and haven't had any issues, but I live in Vancouver which in the winter is warmer than the majority of Canadian cities.

Creo 1X drivetrain - Has frustrated me for some time

The Aethos is the nicest road bike I've ever had. I have a carbon Cervelo RS, but the Aethos has a ride quality that is just smoother and nicer. I think it's probably because of another decade of research and understanding what makes a nice frame. Maybe it's placebo, but the Aethos feels like...

    A Road-Cyclist Thoughts On E-Bikes

I think the power math is complicated by the fact there's a speed limiter. Maybe it's not a factor for the lucky Americans who get a 45 km/hr. speed limit. But for my Canadian bike I have a 32 km/hr. speed limit and it's not as simple as adding my power to the motor's max power to figure out how...

    Cannondale Synapse Neo 1 (2020) - 1 month review...

Yes, big tires for that terrain for sure!

    Cannondale Synapse Neo 1 (2020) - 1 month review...

I too have found that the "correct" tire choice can vary significantly by trail. I've ridden some really hard packed trails that are possible to ride on a set of 23 mm racing slicks. But I've been on other trails that even a 700 x 40 tire with a tread pattern feels like it's not enough tire. You...

No longer using the Creo for road riding

Ideally I like riding a bike lighter than the Creo as well, that's why I love my Aethos! I like the idea of the Topstone as well if it didn't have suspension. Unless I'm mountain biking I'd rather not have suspension. More maintenance and expensive maintenance at that. I suppose if you don't...

No longer using the Creo for road riding

If Canyon sold this in Canada I'd seriously consider getting this https://www.canyon.com/en-us/electric-bikes/electric-gravel-bikes/grail-on/grail-on-cf-8/2552.html?dwvar_2552_pv_rahmenfarbe=BU%2FBK 16.8 kg is a tick under 37 lbs.

No longer using the Creo for road riding

Agreed on the colour. I got the black one. If that colour was the only available I would have waited or gotten a different bike. The irony is that I wasn't looking to buy an Aethos. I was just looking to buy a bike with Rival AXS and that was the first bike I could buy that I was interested in...

No longer using the Creo for road riding

No the Aethos is not as versatile as the Creo. The Creo can go lots of places the Aethos can't and there's nowhere the Aethos can go that the Creo can't. Not only that, but if I want to tow a trailer with things in it, I'm not worried about the Creo with it's aluminum frame. I doubt I'd do that...

Creo 1X drivetrain - Has frustrated me for some time

On another note, I've found a way to live with the 1X drivetrain. I bought a Specialized Aethos and use that for my road bike now. The Creo is for gravel and commuting and in those applications the 1X is much move livable.

Creo 1X drivetrain - Has frustrated me for some time

I ended up buying a set of boost MTB wheels for a gravel set. They were on clearance because the rim width is narrow and everyone is going wider these days. But narrow for MTB is good for a gravel set up for me. I was able to get MTB tools to make a sleeve as you describe to reduce the axle...

No longer using the Creo for road riding

Agreed on the fitness improvement the Creo helps facilitate. Between the Creo and a winter on Zwift I'm climbing hills much, much easier than I have in the past 10-15 years. I'm now climbing like I was when I was 25 years younger! Ok, maybe not that well, but it feels like it :)

No longer using the Creo for road riding

That's one of the reasons it's become my gravel bike. For gravel the 32 km/hr. limit doesn't bother me nearly as much. If I'm over 32 km/hr. it's on a paved portion and it's a smaller part of the ride. Having said that yesterday we were on the shoulder of the highway for a bit and pushing 38-40...

No longer using the Creo for road riding

I enjoyed getting the Creo and riding it when I first got it. But this year I bought an Aethos, which cost slightly less than what I paid for the Creo. For road riding the Aethos is just so much nicer to ride. It doesn't have a motor, but that hasn't been an issue for me and since we have a 32...

E-scooter rider BUSTED for operating without licence & insurance

Last week I saw one of these guys on his two wheeled vehicle, not pedaling at all. I assume based upon his speed that he was using full throttle and he was being very obnoxious about it, constantly honking his horn and telling everyone to get out of his way. I was actually hoping the guy would...

    The Joys of MS...

Sorry, I'm late to the party with this thread but just wanted to say to Keith that I think it's awesome that you're active with MS and the ebike helps with that. Good for you. I have a co-worker whose wife has MS and she's been house bound for many years. Just wanted to say good luck with...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Great report as always, and great ride. when you say more than 100% of combined batteries consumed do you mean you recharged mid ride?
