Where to look for replacement batteries?

Hi, JayVee - Glad to hear you're still rolling at 600 cycles. I just picked 500 cause I read that somewhere on the forum. I assure you, we're not gonna buy new ones until we've gotten our money's worth out of the old ones.

Stealthy Class 1 for gravel/dirt rail trails and more

In my limited experience, the Brose is noticeably quieter than Yamaha or Bosch. The Brose uses a belt to transmit power from motor rather than gears. Apparently that's the biggest factor in noise reduction. Don't kid yourself about sneaking past the pedal police. They'll spot your e-bike if...

    Trek Powerfly 5 for commuting?

Gearing is another consideration. My wife just got a 2018 Pwfly 5 Wmn's. It's geared way lower than her Amiti. Our usual ride is on a local rails-to-trails. With the Amiti she rarely gets to the top gear. Spends most of her time in 5th to 8th. With the Pwfly the chain is slammed all the...

Where to look for replacement batteries?

Thanks for the input, everyone! I contacted the shop that sold me the Haibike. $1000 for a 500Wh battery that would replace the 400Wh battery. The Haibike is a 2017 model, with the same generic battery mount they used across all or most of their Yamaha drivetrain bikes. I wonder how much...

Where to look for replacement batteries?

Good morning! I'd like to upgrade our Haibike and Liv Amiti batteries from 400Wh to 500Wh. Even if we never upgrade, sooner or later we'll be replacing the existing batteries. From what I'm reading on the forum, after 500 cycles or so. What sources have you guys found for e-bike batteries...

No Liv sub-forum so I'll ask here

Thanks for the link. I didn't see anything that really answered the Liv-specific question. I'll keep looking though! It's kinda frustrating that there doesn't seem to be anyone to contact at the company. You're expected to do everything thru the shop, but they don't have all day to look up...

Liv Amiti assist cuts out intermittently

My wife's Amiti is less than a year old, still in warranty. There's been an extremely intermittent problem that I probably should not ignore. About four or five times now the LCD went blank and the motor cut out. Every time this happened, she clicked the LCD pad "On" button and everything...

Bosch CX vs. Yamaha PW range questions

Good morning! I'm feeling much better about the whole thing this morning. Yesterday at about 8:30 AM or thereabouts I brought the two 500W Bosch batteries in from the cold. Night time temps probably in the 30's F. We went for a ride on our standard 20 mile route at about 1:30 PM. The...

No Liv sub-forum so I'll ask here

According to a young man in the nearest bike shop that carries Liv, the Amiti cannot be upgraded to a 500Wh. I don't know if that's the final answer.

Thanks, Mark - I brought all the batteries inside this morning.

No Liv sub-forum so I'll ask here

The Liv Amiti -E has a Yamaha 400Wh battery. The battery is contained within a plastic shroud. Does anyone know if the 400Wh battery can be swapped out for a 500Wh? I found four Philips screws on the underside of the battery, but removing the screws did not release the shroud. Apparently...

Anyone see a power saving difference using a neoprene sweater on their battery in winter temperatures?

Brought the batteries inside this morning. Keys need to be diligently tracked and batteries need a secure spot. From what I'm reading here the small amount of extra effort will be worth it.

Bosch CX vs. Yamaha PW range questions

Thanks for the links to previous threads. I'm 62 now, and I seem to be developing a bad habit of wanting everything to work itself out with as little effort on my part as possible. One thing I've picked up from you guys in the last few days is I need to bring the batteries inside. JayVee...

Bosch CX vs. Yamaha PW range questions

Since there are a few folks looking in on this, does anyone know what these drive motor numbers mean? Does a 250W motor consume 250W at full crank, or does it output 250W? Due to thermal and mechanical losses, what goes in is not the same as what goes out. Any more links to motors and such...

Has Liv stopped making the hardtail Dirt-E and the Vall-E?

Sure looks like it. Their website shows the Embolden and Intrigue FS bikes. No mention of the other two.

Anyone see a power saving difference using a neoprene sweater on their battery in winter temperatures?

Oh, OK, I thought the battery would warm itself up as it discharges. All summer I'd been leaving the batteries on the bikes. Looks like I should get used to a few extra steps between rides...

Bosch CX vs. Yamaha PW range questions

Hi, Mark - Thanks for the quick reply. My message was already getting too wordy so at some point I had to stop. We've been riding every day that we can since spring of this year. Probably rode the same 20 mile stretch of trail at least 100X now. We've got a pretty good feel for how the cold...

Bosch CX vs. Yamaha PW range questions

Good morning! A few days ago I was elated. Bought my wife, who's quite short at 4'11", a 14.5" Trek Women's Powerfly 5. Bosch CX drivetrain, 500Wh battery. I'd been looking for a better bike ever since I bought her a Liv Amiti. The Amiti is not the right bike for our local rails-to-trails...

Anyone see a power saving difference using a neoprene sweater on their battery in winter temperatures?

Yes. My bike is a Haibike HardNine 1.0 with a 400Wh battery. If I'd known then what I know now I woulda asked the retailer to upgrade me to a 500. Anyway, our usual ride is 20 miles out and back on a local rails-to-trails. In the summer I'd start out in Standard, then return in High. Back...

LCD display not linear - 50% on display is nowhere near 50%

OK, very funny rich - "Cost-effective", not "same price" :) The Olympic Discovery Trail is almost all paved. Just a few short gravel stretches. We saw many cyclists on skinny tires. The ODT is quite remarkable once you've found it, but researching online is sketchy. There are downloadable...
