i believe all 620s have metal gears, Bafang switched to metal a few years ago. If you have an older motor its easy and cheap to purchase a metal 3rd gear. I know my 620 has metal gears and i did not buy from the company you described above. They are full of BS imho.

looking at both bikes side by side there appears to be very little difference in seating position between the 2 and if there is a slight difference you could probably offset this with a different set of handlebars. I would not hesitate to buy an AM1000!
