Completely agree with you, as my bars are @680mm ... I am willing to trade off a bit of handling for improved ergonomics and comfort.

I also use Muck-off dry lube... M2, M16, and 1911. Be careful using brake cleaner near plastics, rubber, and any painted surface. 😉
