Creo vs Domane+ SLR w TQ motor - anyone ride both?

Maybe I'm overcautious but I tend to shy away from newly released motors - particularly during the early part of their first year of availability since repair/replace parts availability can be limited. Perhaps consider finding a deal on a used Creo for this year and re-evaluate after the TQ and...

    Turbo Vado SL 5.0 - Pathfinder Pro 2Bliss 700x47

@mogulman Seems you're gonna have to try it and report back. I'm going to guess the answer is no though. Specialized says the max tire size is 42mm. They give the same spec for 700x42c on the Creo, and with my Pathfinder Sport tires there's very little clearance between the tire and the drive...

    Turbo Vado SL 5.0 - Pathfinder Pro 2Bliss 700x47

@sanyata yeah, I'm a bit lighter than you (and likely correspondingly shorter), so if I were on 38's the SRAM calculator suggests 44 front, 47 rear. My Creo E5 came with 28's which I immediately changed to Pathfinder 42's upon getting it home (it's intended for gravel mostly) and the...

    Turbo Vado SL 5.0 - Pathfinder Pro 2Bliss 700x47

@sanyata just out of curiosity, what psi were you using with tubes and what psi you using tubeless? How do those compare to the SRAM recommended pressures for each? For me the difference is under 4psi on 42’s. https://axs.sram.com/guides/tire/pressure

If you were me, which Turbo Vado SL would you buy?

Not sure I'd call the SL 5.0 EQ yellow "screaming"... Saw one in person and it seemed kinda muted due to the matte/satin finish. It's nice, and it's different, but not as vibrant as I'd anticipated from the website. @paterbil assuming the roads of PA aren't any better than the roads of...

2023 (2024?) Turbo Creo Rumor Thread

@Jack Cox it’d make sense that there will be a new Creo with a 1.2 motor, the only question is when and what other changes they will make to it. My guess is they’ll retain the E5 with a 1.1 motor and put the 1.2 in the carbon frames. IMHO the wise person waits until the new Creo is released...

2023 (2024?) Turbo Creo Rumor Thread

The answer is N+1 of course. Domane (analog) for road, Creo for gravel / WMA & FS roads. :D

    Creo Tire Pump

@mmwada no worries, I've not had a lot of time to think about pumps and such yet. Carrying an extra CO2 cartridge for now. The offset mount - I presume something like the B-RAD Bottle Shift - makes sense and I'll likely give it a try.

    Question on 'dropped chain'?

@freewheeling thanks for the info on the Vado SL setup, I've not had a chance to look at it in person. I've seen the BBG and a couple others such as FSA. Thanks. I'm hoping someone's already ridden down this path and has some insights to offer before I spend the money on something, or perhaps...

    Question on 'dropped chain'?

@freewheeling to make it even more interesting, the gravel-oriented Creo EVO models come with a 44T chainring not 46T. But it's the 5-bolt pattern not the Vado SL's 4-bolt.

    Question on 'dropped chain'?

Sure, may not cover all instances, but with a usual 1/8" overhang it'll help - and provide some protection against the contact-stain at the top/front portion of the chain ring. I can always go with the old school methods I've used for decades, but figured why not explore the possibility of...

    Question on 'dropped chain'?

yes, per my prior post I already have a slap-strap for my pants leg, but it's annoying and just not as good as putting a guard on the outside of the sprocket. If I have to, I'll just buy something and try it out - bur I was hoping someone might have some helpful experience to share. As for...

    Question on 'dropped chain'?

You could answer the question without mocking. Primary purpose is the occasional light-utility use of the bike, riding in jeans or other normal attire without having to fuss around with a slap-strap, as one might do on a Vado SL - which comes with a bash ring / guard albeit 4-bolt.

    Question on 'dropped chain'?

Edit - yes I know all about using a slapstrap around my pants leg or sock-over and the various other workaround. Hoping to improve on those. Speaking of chainrings, any recommendation on a compatible bash guard / bash ring for a 46T wide-narrow 5-bolt 110 BCD to put on my Creo? Wolftooth...

    Happy wife, Happy Life!

Sorry, I misunderstood your post. As for whomever put the pedals on the bike, I'd wager they just grabbed a pedal and put it on whichever crank it'd thread into without giving any thought as to whether the right pedal was on the right side and threading in the correct direction. Could be...

    Happy wife, Happy Life!

@mschwett why do you think it’d be difficult to put the crank arms on backwards on these? They’re identically splined and not directly connected to the spider. now a dose of TPS poka-yoke would design them otherwise, but that’s not where we are.

Powder coating wore off to metal on Turbo Vado 5.0

Unless it’s (most) stainless. :D A while back I touched up the rack on my Vado 4.0 with rustoleum rattlecan - worked great. Masked off everything but what needed paint. unfortunately I don’t recall if matte or satin and the can is 100 miles away.

Do I have my Range Extender installed correctly?

There’s also the possibility of individual unit variance during construction of the frame, as well as unit variance in the cable length.

Do I have my Range Extender installed correctly?

@eddief Why would Specialized change the distance between the charge port and seat tube bottle mounts? Seems the logical design would be keep them at the same distance, thus allowing more room above the mounts on larger frames? @Burning Matches Rotate the RE in the bottle mount so the cable...

Do I have my Range Extender installed correctly?

To dispel the suggestion of carbon/aluminum frame differences, my RE cable is just fine on my E5. Sure it's not wallowing in slack, but it fits just fine. I'd suggest OP look to whether a slight rotation provides a little more leeway, and also make sure the cable is fully seated in the...
