New Vado SL 4.0 - harsh ride!

Just curious, @hankj, what tire pressure are you using and how does it relate to the recommendation from SRAM's tire pressure tool?

    Creo Road Remotes

The wire for the Vado handlebar remote is substantially thicker than the Creo remote wires, and clips to the even thicker brake hose. (in my prior reply I missed that you were talking about the Vado)

    New Model Release Dates?

Because having a bit of boost going up steep hills, especially after 30+ miles, takes away some of the suck. You're correct that everyone's different though; for some folks the current SL 1.1 motor is plenty and others would like a bit more power. I considered whether to buy a discounted...

Wow-Prices are down on E-Bikes on Specialized site!

Talk to your local dealer, the stock they order from is separate from the stock showing via the website. You may also plug in your size/color preference and see if any are in stock at stores within a reasonable drive.

Considering buying a Turbo Creo - Questions

According to his posts since this year-and-a-half-old question, it appears he bought the Creo.

Should I buy a Vado SL, or Wait for the Release of the Version with the 1.2 Motor?

Even if it came out today, I’d wait a few months before buying. I’m just always cautious about new/updated motors, whether in cars, boats, motorcycles, or bicycles. I’d rather let other folks test them a few months and shake out any early production bugs. Especially when repair parts might be...

Mission Control Versions-are our bikes "bricked"?

Why do you doubt this? In the Apple app store, Specialized is listed as the "developer" for both apps. While it's certainly possible SBC outsourced development to a third party, rather than manage an internal development team, that would have no bearing on SBC controlling the code base -- and...

    Mission Control and Garmin RTL515

I'd also note that the Varia RTL515 changes up the flash pattern temporarily when it first detects an approaching vehicle. I feel this aids in catching the driver's attention. As great as the Varia is though, a mirror remains a good complement. Varia doesn't tell me if the vehicle(s) are in...

Mission Control Versions-are our bikes "bricked"?

I was working at an ARPA-net connected university - retrieving weekly updated hosts.txt files 'cuz DNS didn't exist yet - before Al Gore reached the Senate. Ha, the good old days. I also had a set of AIX RS6000's I took care of for a while. Eventually I moved into the management realm to...

Mission Control Versions-are our bikes "bricked"?

Doesn't have to be for the story to be (effectively) true. It would be far simpler - and much less expensive - for Specialized's developers to use the same code base for both Mission Control and the Globe app, and just reskin it with a new UI. (in English - take the existing code, change just...

Mission Control Versions-are our bikes "bricked"?

That's nice. ;) 35 years ago I was SunOS/Solaris sysadmin & network manager having upgraded our installation from BSD4.2 systems on Vax 11/750's. I think that's a more accurate description, less likely to give readers an incorrect understanding of the matter. 👍

Mission Control Versions-are our bikes "bricked"?

No, the bikes aren't bricked -- that means something completely different than you imply; the term refers to a device that is completely nonresponsive/nonfunctional and (usually) cannot be returned to a usable state. Is the issue due to a firmware bug? Maybe. Is it due to a Mission Control...

help me with my Turbo Vado "buyer's remorse"

@Cecilsmichie Some thoughts as a guy who has an aluminum Creo SL E5 setup for gravel, a Vado 5.0, and a carbon Domane road bike (analog); I previously had an aluminum hybrid (analog) but sold it when I bought the Creo. I think the views of aluminum vs carbon frame differences can get a little...

help me with my Turbo Vado "buyer's remorse"

Another thought - if the main desire is alternate hand positions and a slightly more aggressive riding position, you can flip the stem for free to drop the bars down a bit, and change grips to the Ergon GP3 / GP4 / GP5 style.

help me with my Turbo Vado "buyer's remorse"

@radiant3centaur there's a bit of geometry differences beyond just the handlebars. Check out this site for numbers, and then this site for the graph below. Ride the Vado SL and consider if changing handlebars (and perhaps stem) would really have any true change in your ride posture. The 2022...

help me with my Turbo Vado "buyer's remorse"

A bit of decision-tree analysis might help you step away from the emotional aspects of the decision which lies ahead of you. You have four options as I see it: (A) keep the Vado SL and ride it as-is, (B) modify the Vado SL such as @Avg_Joe suggests, (C) buy a Creo SL, sell the Vado SL, or (D)...
