Should I buy a Vado SL, or Wait for the Release of the Version with the 1.2 Motor?

Yes, the Topeak MTX system is also good. My 2022 Vado 4.0 came with fenders and a MIK-compatible rack, and my wife's Trek has a MIK-compatible rack, so I'm a bit focused on that system. :)

Should I buy a Vado SL, or Wait for the Release of the Version with the 1.2 Motor?

Plenty of rear rack options that don't marry you to a fender. I'd suggest looking at the Bontrager BackRack MIK or BackRack Lightweight MIK. I'm considering adding the last one to my Creo but haven't pulled the trigger. You'll need a rack-stay mount that attaches to the seat tube though, but...

Tero X Fender Trim to Use on 1UP Hitch Rack

I had an additional reason to shorten the fender - I typically wheelie my bikes to maneuver them past the car in the garage to where they're kept, and the stock fender doesn't do that well. Have you seen 1Up USA's fender cushion? That might work for your situation, though I'd definitely use...

Tero X Fender Trim to Use on 1UP Hitch Rack

Or just bob the rear fender as described in this thread - I mentioned having done the same to my Vado 4.0 in post #8. In my case I removed the fender and cut it on my tabletop bandsaw. I took the spindle down two spots on my 1UP USA rack and it works well for my Vado 4.0 as well two...

    Vado 4.0 Sale Price

Sure - if there's no rider. Add a 200lb rider and you have an SL with a total system weight of ~233lb and a Vado 4.0 total system weight of ~258lb. So around a 10% weight difference overall. Note also that the total system weight really only matters relative to motor power when accelerating...

    Vado 4.0 Sale Price

Yeah, looks like availability is limited vs when I bought mine in 2022. The Abus 5750 is the same, but one step down in lock cylinder security. Still very good though, I just chose the higher level since price was nearly the same so why not. You can look at the dimensions on Abus site to...

    Vado 4.0 Sale Price

You're welcome. The chain (which has a ring at the end to pass through itself) + frame lock is a pretty good solution for walking into a store or similar since defeating them requires at least two cuts if not three. The frame lock by itself prevents roll or ride-away theft, and if you remain...

    Vado 4.0 Sale Price

That is an excellent price, and it is an excellent bike for commuting/errand-running. Plus 0% interest is free money these days. I doubt you'll see a lower price on a new bike of the Vado 4's level - and buying new gets you lifetime frame warranty that used bike doesn't have. Some...

Should I buy a Vado SL, or Wait for the Release of the Version with the 1.2 Motor?

That is correct. Disengage when you prefer lesser tension on the chain, such as wheel removal or chain replacement. Otherwise generally keep it on.

Should I buy a Vado SL, or Wait for the Release of the Version with the 1.2 Motor?

it’s funny how the cheap SOB’s often have the most available cash. If they can only bring themselves to spend it. 😀

Should I buy a Vado SL, or Wait for the Release of the Version with the 1.2 Motor?

Sure, that's what it shows for online sales today. That can change tomorrow or next week or the week after. Also consider asking your LBS if they can order - my LBS told me last year that stores order from a different stock than the direct-to-consumer website orders, so it may be available in...

Should I buy a Vado SL, or Wait for the Release of the Version with the 1.2 Motor?

Funny how they do tha. Wouldn’t be difficult to de-EQ the bike if you preferred it that way. … and that matte yellow is nice

Should I buy a Vado SL, or Wait for the Release of the Version with the 1.2 Motor?

If yours has the Mastermind TCU then I don't believe there are any changes - check the current technical info and see if it matches your drivetrain though, not sure if they might's made some initial 2022's with an 11-speed and now sell 12 speed. and there's no reason to excuse taking a...

Can One order Garmin Varias on 2022 Turbo Vado 4.0?

The Creo2 Workbook section about adding a tail-light powered from the ebike suggests notching the back of the motor cover and running the wire for the taillight along the back of the seat tube. Personally I'd just stick with a battery powered Varia.

    Creo Upgrades and Modifications

Creo2 is spec'd to 25kg rear cargo + rack capacity. See the Creo 2 Rider Workbook for more details on rack sizing/specifics - including their suggestion of the tubus Vega Classic rack which is rated to 25kg. I keep meaning to try this Bontrager MIK-compatible rack with my Creo E5 sometime...

    Creo Upgrades and Modifications

Pedals - unless you're in love with the reflectors on the T8000, I'd suggest Shimano EH500's instead. Front light - are you looking for daytime running light or nighttime lighting? For DRL the Bontrager ION 200 works well and can be mounted under a phone or computer mount using this go-pro...

    specialized creo 2

Not sure that this info is published. I'd look at the specifications for the lights used on the Como SL and Vado SL models as guidance. If you find one which can be set to flash do let us know - that's the biggest reason I've not looked into this any further, I prefer the enhanced daytime...

Creo rear thru axle spinning out

Properly torqued threads shouldn't back out, though a little bit of blue loctite isn't bad insurance. If you have the kind with the lever, remove it and you can use a 12mm socket to torque the thru-axle to 15Nm, then reinstall the lever - ideally aligned with the a stay or the fork tube so you...
