HyperFat Accessories, Add-ons, Changes and Feedback

I saw a youtube video of a professional racer who uses a piece of an emergency foil-type blanket to wrap his battery. I have done so as well and then wrapped black gorilla tape over the blanket. It seems to be a little more efficient, but at this point it is a little hard to be sure because we...

About 90 at 28 mph and just under 100 at 33 mph. I would say I was probably spinning out at that point, which is probably best for my knees. At 28 on the flat I could probably go for maybe a mile or so before I would need a short rest. This was done on a very slight incline. I was able to...

Anybody know why Court hasn't reviewed the HF1000 yet?

I'm not really interested in buying a bike computer right now and I'm not going to be satisfied with counting. I'll just take a movie of my legs going up and down at 28 and calculate 33. I should be able to do it this weekend once I get my new tires mounted.

How would I know my cadence? All I can tell you is that I couldn't spin any faster. At 28 mph I could comfortably go for a fair distance.

Eglon, just wanted to let you know that I was way off on my estimation of max speed with the 42 tooth. I think I kinda understand why. When I tried to check my max speed with the 52 I may have backed off prematurely due to stress noticed in one of my knees. Anyway, with the 42 I was able to...

This entry is for those who are interested in additional information on the effect of temperature on the 17.4 Ah batteries. My previous entry on this subject noted that I only got 690 Wh from my 835 Wh battery. Now that the temperature has increased by 12 degrees (up to 47) I am getting about...

If I understand the term, yes. It included the crank arm, chainring, and guard (alum.). I just had the mechanic at my LBS order one locally for $64 and install for $25. After he installed it I realized that the occasional noise I had been hearing was due to the chain striking the guard a couple...

Eglon, I just had a 42 teeth chainring put in place of my 52 (if I had the cash I'd probably get the Patterson Transmission with the 52 and the ?) and ran my first ride test. Much more pleasant to ride with and without power. 14.39 miles out and back ride, 653 ft total ascent, only needed to use...

Have you considered the Patterson Transmission? https://www.pattersonbike.com I don't know if it will fit, but if it could it sounds ideal, other than price, weight, and maintenance.

Since I altered the part I didn't really feel I had the right to ask for a free replacement. But thanks anyway.

Powerful Fat Tire E-bike w/ Torque sensor from Juiced Bikes

When I first got my HF I ran some range tests and I got about 4.7 miles per volt on the 17.4 Ah battery at 35 degrees F. It was moderately hilly and that test was stopped at 45.3 V. I was about 220 and the bike about 70 lbs I'd say. I was on ECO the entire time and going at a relatively slow...

Load and payload are not the same. The way I see it the load on the motor consists of the bike and everything (including rider, clothing, tools, etc.) on the bike. And a difference of 95 lbs would have a significant impact, particularly on hilly terrain.

Powerful Fat Tire E-bike w/ Torque sensor from Juiced Bikes

Sorry, let me clarify: Extrapolated (from 347 Wh used on a 14.2 mi ride) to almost exactly 30 miles (may be closer to 28 since I do not know how much of an effect 7 degrees F warmer will have on the battery range (690 Wh range was determined at 35 degrees)) on one full charge (17.4 Ah battery...

Powerful Fat Tire E-bike w/ Torque sensor from Juiced Bikes

Went on another test ride today. Extrapolated (from 347 Wh used) to almost exactly 30 miles on one full charge (17.4 Ah battery) while using only the throttle at an average speed of 13.0 mph up and down moderate hills.

Powerful Fat Tire E-bike w/ Torque sensor from Juiced Bikes

Though they are not as critical to the bike I have had the bolts on my kickstand come loose twice, first when I got the bike and second maybe a week later. The second time I looked closer at how it was connected and discovered that it was put on incorrectly (in my opinion). It seems more...

Powerful Fat Tire E-bike w/ Torque sensor from Juiced Bikes

I have charged my battery to 100% with both the stock 2A and the Grin Tech chargers. After connecting the battery and checking the display they both showed only 53.9V, which almost immediately fell to 53.8V. I believe it is unlikely that both chargers are off by the same amount and by so much...

Not a lot, but apparently too much for the full fenders. I just didn't like the lack of coverage of the half fenders for the street, which is what I spend most of my time on.

Those of you who are thinking of purchasing and using the $89 Rad Rover Full Fenders on their HyperFat bikes in cold weather may want to give some real thought on how you attach them to your bike. After less than two weeks and a couple bike laydowns I have the damage you can see in the image...
