How to turn off Specialized Turbo Vado SL EQ Lights?

PS Stefan - my wife was knocked off her bike by a driver opening his door in front of her. At the time she only had the bike light on, whereas now we always use flashing lights. No guarantees though - the driver who opened his door was paying no attention at all!

How to turn off Specialized Turbo Vado SL EQ Lights?

Goodness me - I did expect you to reply, but not quite so quickly! My thinking is that, until the recent tcu update, I would ride the bike for, say, 2 hours with the system on but without using power, then stop for coffee (I’m a bit of an addict) then I’d restart the system, and lo, I’d “lost”...

How to turn off Specialized Turbo Vado SL EQ Lights?

Interesting. I’ve just had a problem on my turbo Vado 5 SL eq, which is relevant to this thread, AND I’ve been wanting to turn off the lights for ages! A few days ago we set off for a long (for us) ride of 100km with c. 2,300m of climbing. Normally we (my wife and I) don’t turn on the power...

42mm tires on Vado 5.0 SL EQ

I’ve checked - the pressure range marked on the tyre is 36-58psi.

42mm tires on Vado 5.0 SL EQ

I think you’re probably replying to GuroUno, but I’ll chip in anyway if you don’t mind! Depending on the X-section shape of the 42mm tyres, you might find them a bit tight inside the mudguards. That wouldn’t matter too much with small stones, which generally seem to rattle their way round and...

42mm tires on Vado 5.0 SL EQ

My Pirelli 40 Cinturato tyres are really good, and can run at low pressures.

Low battery warning and motor grinding

I’m not sure if this is the same problem, but my wife’s turbo Vado SL 4eq is currently in the LBS for something which sounds similar. This bike was new in March, and in mid-May started to make a whining/whirring noise when NOT using the motor, just pedalling. There is no noise when using the...

The benefits of high cadence or, "spinning" is also good for low drive-train wear

Hi - I will certainly bear that in mind, once we’ve got over this broken pelvis issue anyway! Should make me fairly bulletproof on all but the steepest hills, and help with cadence. That bit I do find a bit scary,

The benefits of high cadence or, "spinning" is also good for low drive-train wear

“It simply works.” Says it all really. I’d better get practicing. Thank you Stefan - the original post was great, and really cleared my mind up.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Very exciting. I’m still getting over the excitement which I get from riding mine. I was really pleased to read your review; finding that I wasn’t the only one with such emotions.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I have the 5 EQ, which only has a 15kg rear rack. My wife has the 4EQ, with steel front forks, which have rack fittings.

The benefits of high cadence or, "spinning" is also good for low drive-train wear

This is all fascinating stuff for me. My wife and I ride together, and share certain riding characteristics. We both rowed competitively in our late teens, 20s and 30s (except I didn’t do the child-bearing), and a couple of principles seem to transfer to cycling: 1. Don’t row, or ride...

I’m not sure you’d like the result - I don’t have the plummiest British accent - but I may give it a go!

My SL5 with carbon front forks doesn’t have any pannier fittings.

Is the Vado SL Freehub noisy?

Hi Brett, the transport is simple. We have a VW T6 campervan with a Thule XT2 folding bike rack on the back. They’re brilliantly easy to use, and can be stored in the van when not in use. We take the ferry from Plymouth to Santander and then drive down through Spain. It’s 1,000km, but feels...

Is the Vado SL Freehub noisy?

Thank you for your best wishes, also Voltman99. Whereabouts is it you live and cycle? We’re near Kingsbridge, so most of our riding is South Hams and southern edge of Dartmoor.

That would really be something, but don’t you have to secure the bike TO something fixed? For insurance purposes at least.

Is the Vado SL Freehub noisy?

Hi. She is recovering well, thank you. The fractures are not displaced, so the pelvis is stable. After we got back from the hospital she spent 2 days in bed before starting to get up and use crutches to get around, but still spending periods in bed. It’s all about resting. We’re currently...

Is the Vado SL Freehub noisy?

Hi. Maybe I used the wrong word. My wife wanted a more meaningful/knobbly tyre, and we were browsing the tyre shelves with the Alan, the very helpful guy who sold us the bikes. We were just picking tyres up and looking at them, and he said how about these Pirelli’s, or something similar. They’re...
