    2021 vs. 2022 Allant+7

From the Trek US website, the specs look pretty much identical as far as I can tell (but it's possible I may have missed something). Not sure about other countries/sales regions.

Yes, correct. But if you replace your chain before significant wear and tear on the cassette you don't need to replace the cassette as frequently. I agree that if you are getting your bike checked out by a pro frequently enough they almost always check chain wear so there would be no need to...

    Allant+7 thoughts/review

For any bike with a rear derailleur (e-bike or otherwise), I recommend purchasing a chain stretch checker tool/gauge. For example: https://www.parktool.com/product/chain-wear-indicator-cc-3-2 It is a low cost tool and could save you the headache and cost of having to replace your entire...

The Original Bell on Your Trek

I'm a big fan of bells. If you ride a lot on busy multi-use paths (MUPs) I almost think they are essential. Yelling "on your left" is fine, but it gets old if you have to do it 100 times on a single ride. Plus I feel like a gentle sounding "ding ding" chime is a friendlier notice than some dude...

    Allant+ 7s U-Lock Mount Location?

I think a thick chain is a good idea for the reasons you mention, but the folding lock was a slightly more elegant storage/transport option on the bike.

    Allant+ 7s U-Lock Mount Location?

Refer to this thread: https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/allant-7s-other-treks-with-integrated-batteries.35909/#post-315711 I only use it for transporting bike without battery or on rare occasion when I decide to ride analog.

    Allant+ 7s U-Lock Mount Location?

I hear you! Me too. I got the 85cm too. I probably would have preferred the 110cm, bit so $$$ and more weight. It is difficult and impractical in most locking situations to get the lock through the wheel and frame on this bike (so much space between the rear wheel and the frame). So I usually...

    Allant+ 7s U-Lock Mount Location?

I struggled with this too. Here's what I came up with: I zip-tied a couple strips cut out of old tubes to protect the frame at the seat stays. Then I added a short length of small-diameter bungee looped through the bottle-mount braze-ons. This bungee is then looped through the u-lock and keeps...

Wired Replacement Front Light for Allant+ 7S

Did you move it there to get the beam angle higher up?

Wired Replacement Front Light for Allant+ 7S

I'm a fan of redundancy, so I simply added a second standalone (internal battery) headlight on the handlebars to get me through the dark winter months. It's a bit brighter than the headlight included with the Allant+ 7s (Herrmans MR8e). But you may find the specs for the Herrmans MR8e...

Why did you choose an Allant 7 vs Allant 8?

For me it came down to price. I was already stretching my budget when I purchased the 7s. If I had a bigger budget but the same value conscience, I would have chosen the 8s mainly for the bigger battery (primarily), Deore 10-spd, and rigid fork. The 9s is a sweet bike, but I still think the 8s...

    Trek's Racktime LightIt Cargo Rack

I used this and like it as a flexible option. You can use any bag or cargo container you want. Here's an example that I came up with: https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/fun-with-racktime-rack.37420/

Do I need a PHD to change a tire, or just a little advice?

Sorry to respond to this older thread, but I finally had to fix my first flat with the Allant+ 7s and ran into this same problem. I've fixed hundreds of flats in my life and never had so much trouble with getting a tire off the rim as I did with this one. Once I figured out that the source of...

    Mercedes ebike

I agree (and I realize this happens a lot in the ebike industry). This new $3,200 n+ Mercedes Benz ebike ($4,500 with upgraded spec) looks surprisingly similar to the Luna Stealth Fixed that has been available for the past 1.5 years (since May 2019) for $1,750 (or $2,000 w/6mo warranty or $2250...

    Part for Allant 8s

I would definitely recommend that you not ride it in that state until you get the nut replaced. If the thru-axle pops out, it could end badly.

Any Allant+ owners had a system update?

I updated from 1.0.3.0 to 1.1.2.0 in September. I cannot comment on how 1.1.2.0 differs from 1.1.1.0. I do like the update though.
