    Yamaha YPJ-MT Pro

It only took me about a minute or two, but it would be a bit more difficult in the dark. I have to say that I am not a fan of the tools required battery. The outer two screws could potentially be replaced by thumb screws, but that would make theft easier. The inner screw it a bit more...

BTW: Delivery Time: Quick test ride to see how fast I can drain the battery in extra power mode: First Impressions: https://shiruba-japan.blogspot.com/2020/12/yamaha-ypj-mt-pro-first-thoughts.html Bear in mind, I haven't have time to really put this thing through it's paces yet.

    Yamaha YPJ-MT Pro

That is exactly as the bike shop shipped out. I think Yamaha shipped it to the bike shop in a more compact firm. The bike shop put in the batteries and wheels and stuff and shipped it to me.

Ha ha ha, this is the first time I ordered a bike and it got delivered in a box!

    Yamaha YPJ-MT Pro

Wow, it's already assembled, shipped and on the way. Given that shipping in Japan is pretty fast, it should easily be here this week. Sadly I won't have much time to play with it this week, except I might use it for my weekly commute to Kawasaki on Thursday night. Notes: Like the XM-D2, it...

Btw I received a mail saying they got this in sick more quickly than expected, and it should be shipping this month.

My Path to Living (Mostly) Without Cars

Hmm I have a road bike that I never use, and two mountain bikes that I also use in the road. Suspension is nice, just heavy - and heavy isn't a big deal on an Ebike. I have never had any issue with stability, but I do use the lockout when I stand to pedal. I haven't ridden Specialized bikes...

Nireeka triple charged me for 1 ebike

Hmm I've purchased 5 bikes online, without ever having a problem. However, they were all from places with physical shops nearby that I could go into to complain if need be.

    eHorn option

He he btw I have three options on my main bike : 1. The typical "ding!" type bell. I use this when I see another cyclist going the wrong way, etc 2. A series trail bell, which jingles all the time. I like this because it lets people know you are coming without it seeming like you are telling...

    Yamaha YPJ-MT Pro

Btw things I like/dislike about this model based on the spec sheet compared with my panasonic xm-d2: Pros: -display unit shows your pedaling input in watts and can share this to your Garmin unit via Bluetooth -has usb output for charging -unique frame design Cons: -Battery is not as easily...

    Yamaha YPJ-MT Pro

Hmm the MSRP is 600000 jpy. Plus sales tax. Some places will sell it cheaper for sure, but since they are already sold out, I don't think there will be a lot of price pressure yet. If you buy from Yodobashi, you will get 10% points, which is enough to negate the sales tax at least. The...

Yamaha unveils new full-suspension electric mountain bike

yes since the sensor is inside the motor itself that would certainly make sense.

Should it be legal for kids to ride ebikes?

It's not super common to see kids on Ebike so much as adults, but it is perfectly allowed. I think part of the difference is about what is considered an "Ebike" in different countries. The term Ebike is not really used here, but the things you showed in the photos are called electric pedal...

Disadvantage of integrated mid drives that I don't see mentioned

Hmm a decent motor should easily last over 5000km. I have two Ebikes with well over that which have no issue at all, so I think that should be petty standard. The motor is an expensive part, having to change it after 2500 miles would be pretty expensive! As for the chain, you probably should...

Yamaha unveils new full-suspension electric mountain bike

Hmm so far as I know, Yamaha is the only one right now that senses the angle to adjust the power.

Yamaha unveils new full-suspension electric mountain bike

Well to be honest, they saw that panasonic was always selling out and decided to join in about two years late.

    Yamaha YPJ-MT Pro

Yes I saw that motor listed on their foreign site. It seems to be marketed towards "speed pedelecs" in Europe, but would presumably also be okay to use in California. (technically it is okay in Japan, but only for things classified as mopeds /motorcycles). I don't see that this is being...

    Yamaha YPJ-MT Pro

I can't speak for the models being sold overseas, but for the one being sold in Japan, the assist will be limited to 24kph since it is being marketed and less as an Ebike. For anything faster, it would be classified as a motorcycle. I'm sure there will be tuning kits to remove the limit, but...

    Yamaha YPJ-MT Pro

Hello, I visited a bike show a number of months back and saw a prototype/concept bike from Yamaha which I thought looked really cool, down to 80s styling. https://global.yamaha-motor.com/jp/showroom/event/tokyo-motorshow-2019/exhibitionmodels/ypj-yz/ Unfortunately they didn't keep that...

    Fast Electric Bike Charging Stations

For what it's worth, I have sometimes brought my charger in my backpack. The idea being that I could stop at an internet cafe, where I would be able to take my battery and the charger into the little cubicle and charge for an hour or so while I relax and play on the computer or sleep. In...
