Nope, no class 3 in Canada! I think it can be sold, but not used on any public roads. Hence, major brands do not import them in our country. Range estimation during winter is useful : it mimics summer range in 4-5 years, when the battery gets older!

It works differently in Canada. All ebikes are restricted to 32km/h. So, no matter the model, if I want electric assistance higher than 32kmh, I will need to derestrict it! Where do you get the information about the motor power? Specialized does not show much information about their branding...

Seeing the reported range, I also think that I should perhaps get the 5.0 with the 600 Wh battery. I should factor in the battery degradation performance over the following years... But it cost much more! (+1200$ Canadian here).

Will report! But I am still at the "gathering information" stage! I plan to buy the Vado 4. 0 + planet3 next summer. I think I will limit my usage to april 1st - > november 30th though. The bridge between Montréal and my office is usually closed during winter.

Thanks! Another poster had similar results in another thread (higher range, but lower avg speed). This is encouraging for my planned use case (32km with a planned 32km/h avg speed).

2020 Como 3 speed limiter question

Good point. I'm not concerned about hills though. I live in Montréal and its mostly flat. The only "hill" on my path would be Jacques-Cartier bridge (not sure about the gradient, but the length is about 1.5 km). I'm excited now, cant wait for next summer! Edit - For the curious, I found the...

Wow, better than I expected! I dont know yet which mode I will use, but I am happy to see that I will be able to do my morning ride of 32km in turbo mode and charge at work if I need turbo mode for the return home. Many thanks!

2020 Como 3 speed limiter question

Hello! Im interested to know what kind of range you get with your Vado with a 30-32km/h average speed. Your set up is exactly what I aim for next summer (with the planet3). I have a 32km ride (64 km round trip, but I can charge at work), with lots of stretch where I will be able to sustain...

Awesome system! This set me on the Vado then...! I was looking at the possibilities for derestricting an ebike in Canada for my long commute (64km round trip) and saw your posts and demo video. I plan to buy next summer. I hope you will still be around! Cheers
